4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottled: Amber coloured. Brown dense head. Lasting. Hops, malt, alcahol, cocoa, chocolate in the nose. Lots of hops, sweetness, alcahol and fruits in the flavour. This is a carpetbombing of the palate with bitterness. Man, its fun. In danish I would say: "Denne øl holder for vildt". Thanks to Raindog for trading another great brew.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: JUN 9, 2004 Bottled, thanks hopsrus!!
Deep red, rich head. Soapy balsamic grapefruit aroma. Sweet and syrupy with soft mouthfeel and cookie malt flavuor. The oiliness and bitterness casued by an extreme amount of hops are being balanced by a huge body and loads of alcohol, but the sweetness is shining through a little, detracting from the perfect hop juice image.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
This is Arrogant Bastard on steroids. I like it, most won't. At a healthy 10%ABV, it is not surprising that the flavor is influenced by the content. Still, it is hoppy in both aroma and taste, and, once past the alcohol, it does have a complexity that at least barleywine lovers can appreciate. Hints of citrus compete with an earthy malt flavor, but the only winner is the consumer.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: SEP 4, 2006 Merci Psychprof! Clear copper hue over which lies an off-white head. Aroma is very harsh on alcohol surprisingly so. It took me a while to get over those vapors and get to studying the rest which had a big caramelic malt profile and a fruitiness approaching orange or watermelon. There’s also an earthy/peaty aspect in there, but of course, besides alcohol, the bold hops dominate. In mouth, there’s evidently intense hoppy grapefruit juice, caramel, crystal malt and still a moderate alcohol taste. Finish is huge, monstruously bitter, mouth-grabbing, memorable for a while. Mouthfeel is rather thick, closing onto syrup. Definitely worth a try to experiment it, but masochism as they say, is to be consumed in moderate amount. Not quite my bag, give me an Old Numbskull or HOTD Fred if I want a hoppy barley wine. I’ll never brush my teeths again.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Wow it's great to be rating a +4 beer after a 2.5 month drought! Deep copper amber under a yellow beige smallish shortish lasting head. Super aromatic hops and fruity passion fruit and honey dew melon aroma. Medium full mellow velvety body. Big hoppy and sweet caramel and molasses malt flavours with hints of similar fruit to the aroma. Biting hop bitter finish.

4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Dark garnet in color with an off white head. Not sure why but full and round come to mind to describe the aroma. It smells heavy and malty, with some fruit tones. It really hits hard and pulls you in. The taste is sweet and smooth and finishes bitter. There is a sharp citrus and pine bitterness that states around but seems to ballance nicely with the round malt presense.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20
Despite the name's protest, its a lovely beer. An excellent balance of bitter and sweetness. Easy to drink. The aroma was, to me, like pine cones and french bread.

4.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
Yum! Beautiful color with a slightly off white head. Sweet, but not too sweet. It balances the hops very nicely. It has some definite citrus notes. I noticed flavors very much like orange blossom honey. This stuff'll kick you ass.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
UPDATED: JAN 4, 2007 redish colored color. not much head, disappears quickly after leaving the bottle. smells sweet and has a slight smell of alcohol. DAMN. the first sip is surprisingly smooth, and then BAM hops aftertaste. bitter as hell, good as hell too. This is one bastard of a beer, and that is a good thing. Great beer!
rerate - more of just an addition on how great this beer really is. I got a 2005 bottle from Sean, and I am not sure it was kept very well because it did not impress. Garrett brought over a 2004 bottle tonight which inspired me to add notes to it. God. It tastes so fresh, to be more than 2 years old. Phenomenal beer.
