Cybercat (778), Georgia, USA Dec 22, 2008 Aroma is fairly hoppy and has a strong fruity overtone. It pours a deep coppery reddish brown with a fairly thick off-white head. As to flavor, WOOOOO! One sip of this beer, and you will know what it is like to have an angry puma in your mouth. It is FIERCE, not for the faint of heart! Bitterness is strong, but not unpleasant. Taste is mainly hoppy with some malty and sweet tones and hints of Coca Cola and caramel. Texture is satisfyingly smooth, and aftertaste is bitter yet with a sweet fruity undertone. Like no other beer I have ever tried. pilsnerrogge (1770), Finspång, Sweden Dec 22, 2008 [2007 Bottle] Pours dark amber with a small head. Aroma is hops, caramel and marzipan. Sticky, oily mouthfeel. Flavour is really intense, really bitter hops. No refinement at all, its all straight in the face, but I liked it somehow. pintocb (508), Darsville, Georgia, USA Dec 21, 2008 Dark amber/ruby. Not much head. Tons of grapefruit/piney aroma. Delicious flavor of sweet malts, dried apples??, huge hops....I freaking love this beer. It is everything its smaller version promises and more. leaparsons (4659), Leicester, Leicestershire, England Dec 21, 2008 Bottle. Ruby pink and amber with a small head. Aromas are peppery pine with smoky, woody notes. Some sweet toffee with not too harsh alcohol. Flavours are toffee and chocolate malts with sweet caramel. Some dark syrup. Pine hops with peppery notes. Very smooth despite its strength. Very good. foundmd (163), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Dec 20, 2008 22oz bottle, 2008 release. Pours a dark amber with a large white head. Big hops with hints of caramel and malts. Smooth drinkability with nice alcohol burn. Very good. kiefdog (1567), Tampa, Florida, USA Dec 17, 2008 2006 vintage on tap at Oldsmar Tap House (Tampa, FL) for Stone opening. Pours a dark reddish brown/mahogany color with an off-white head. Aroma is very hoppy with a floral and spicy note as well. Some sweet malt hidden among the hops, but the citrus-grapefruit hop aroma comes through strongly even after two years of aging. Flavor is much of the same--floral and hoppy with a balancing maltiness. Generally medium body with a hoppy finish.
JaBier (1130), Capital City, Ohio, USA Dec 16, 2008 22oz bottle. Had this once or twice before and could not wait for this batch to come out. Pours a deep amber, almost light brown, with a huge off-white head. Lots of hop in the nose, but a good amount of caramelly malt too. Tons of hop flavor up front, followed by a slight alcohol burn and a carmelly malt finish. Alcohol sticks around for the aftertaste. Superb stuff. BeerNeedy (60), Anchorage, Alaska, USA Dec 16, 2008 22 Oz Bottle. Poured a somewhat cloudy amber with a small tan head. The aroma was compelling and the taste did not disappoint. This is a big bold ale which doesnt rely on a lot of fruity or chocolate notes to get the job done. Stoneworthy!
