2011 bottle. Pours a beautiful deep amber, red color with a nice compact off white head. Aroma: caramel, sweet berries, fruits, toasty malts, sweet orange, nice a juicy. Taste: still a huge bitterness with grapfruit notes, a nice solid sweetness with caramel notes and some berries. Notes of caramel, toffee, red berries, grapefruit, honey. A really good brew! I enjoy this alot!

2012 bottle shared - Cheers Steven! Pours a clear dark brown with a big white head, which shortens but lasts. Big aroma! Caramel, citrus fruit, raisins. Taste is the same only more so, with a long, lingering, thoughtful finish - kissing you softly on the cheek after a rough touch-up. A damn well made beer. Which I want more of. Soon.
4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 spacecube (348) - Leeds, West Yorkshire, ENGLAND - FEB 23, 2013
UPDATED: MAR 1, 2013 This pours like a lot of Stone beers, dark brown, with decent head leaving a lacing. The aroma is heavy caramel malts, , with piney citrus hops. Wow, this is a fucking fantastic beer, it’s pretty bitter, but the balance on this, for the 11.2 abv, is just incredible. It is smooth, crisp and goes down nice and easy. The aftertaste is is quite bitter, less bitter than arrogant bastard, quite sweet but great, lovely balance, really tasty. This is just as enjoyable to drink than the also excellent, arrogant bastard ale.

: 2009 bottle 10.5%. Split with my uncle. Poured deep amber with thin head and lacing. Noted of caramel, cherry, vanilla, booze, hops and grains. A little too much alcohol burn for me. Palate was a little sticky with light to medium carbonation

On tap at Crunchy’s. Favorite beer from Stone. Big and bold. I imagine if I had this in something larger than a flight glass I wouldn’t be able to taste anything for the next couple days. Not that that would be a bad thing.
4.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 Fatehunter (752) - Corbett, Oregon, USA - FEB 17, 2013
A finger and half of reddish head on an almost clear amber colored body. There’s a lot of sediment.
The aroma is weak with only a little malt and lemon coming through.
The taste is HUGE and BOLD. Lots of lemon bitterness thrown against tons of malt. It maintains a great balance.
The texture is smooth with moderate carbonation.
A big beer with still keeps it together.

Vintage 2012. (Bottle) Poured Hazy dark amber little off-white head. Strong hops aroma, pinney, malts and booze... Taste is also bitter hops mixed with fruits and malts the alcohol is quite noticeable. A great beer, quite enjoyable; however is no the type you want to use to introduce your macro drinker friend to the world of craft beer.

For all it's scornful commenting, double arrogant is somewhat subtle at first, only biting back on the palate's backside. Great appearance and head, pours somewhat on the rust side. The malty backbone gives this robust ale something to be proud of, but won't give you the sharp citrus or pine notes you might expect of the variety

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 hockeybeerguy (212) - Portland, Maine, USA - FEB 11, 2013
It pours a nice rich dark red with a one inch foamy white head which lasts a considerable while. Lots of hops are seen floating throughout the body. The smell is sweet malts up front and in the beginning and as the beer warms more hops comes out. The taste follows the smell and becomes increasingly hoppy bitter and yet citrusy sweet, becoming very powerful. The palate is about a medium to perhaps heavy, some slight lingering sharpness coming out slightly strong near the end of the beer. Overall, this is a complex beer and pleasing beer that I would absolutely come back to.
