This is a lacerative muther of a beer. The evil big brother of Arrogant Bastard Ale. It is strongly suggested you stay far, far away from this beer. Those foolish enough to venture close enough to taste will experience a punishingly unforgiving assault on the palate. ’Course there’s always the masochists...

Aroma - a touch of oak along with the malt? A touch of caramel. Hops are staying in the background. Some alcohol though not as prominent as I would expect given the ABV. Appearance- a fairly dark copper with very little head. Pretty clear. Mild to moderate carbonation. Taste- not as sweet as I would expect given the ABV. Some fairly distinct bitterness. Palate - medium to full body, finish has that wood flavor on it. Overall a good enjoyable beer. Not quite complex enough to be a great beer.

Dark malts and caramel for aroma. Pretty bitter bite than increases and then starts to calm on the palate. Leaves a bitter taste in the back of your mouth. I would get it again although, at 11.2%, I wouldn't have too many ;) ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Shared by Blake J. at World of Beer in Baltimore, for his 1000th beer club selection. This was an awesome brew. Semi-sweet and hints of apricot, herbs, cereal with a nice balance. The amber colored brew was superb.

5 years old, from the cellar. Comparable to the Arrogant Bastard, but with more malt and less hops. Could be the cellaring.

Nice deep red pour. Toffee, caramel, and nice toasted malt notes on the nose and palate.

12/30/14. 2014 bomber. Not much to add to the other notes. Definitely a bit boozy and warm with deep hop and spice notes. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

The aroma off this double bastard was of strong alcohol with notes of oak, smoke and whiskey barrels. It poured beautifully with an amazing dark red amber. There were strong notes of caramel, leather, whiskey, charred oak, and something sweet that I cannot describe. The finish was just as complex as the start, warm and with strong alcohol fumes.

Pouring a deep and rich amber colour with a clear, sparkly body and a thin beige head that clings to the glass. The aroma is heavy and rich with loads of toffee and caramel malts atop surprisingly sweet and fruity aromas of orange peel and citrus. A bit of spice and bready malts pervade that aroma. The first sip is overly sweet and sugary with toffee and caramel malts, notes of nuts, pine and citrus hop notes and raisin. Towards the finish the fruit notes peter out leaving more hop emphasis with pine and grapefruit resin notes. Alot of biscuity and bready malts leave a rather heavy mouthfeel that comes across a bit oily and thick. The finish is dry and moderately astringent with a surprising smoothness. The alcohol is well hidden but for a slight warmth on the finish.

Huge beer for sure, taste better as it warms. Drinks easy for 11+ abv but still get the alcohol. Worth a try but not something for the normal rotation. Take your time drinking this one.
