Very bold and in your face. The taste of alcohol is really present but delightful. Assertive and delicious.

3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 12/20
Aroma of sweeet malt, fruit, with pleasing citrus notes. Pours a clear mahogny with a white ring and no lacing. The taste is quite malty initially and then the hops begin to kick in. And, oh, do they ever kick in! There is a satisfying warmth all the way to my stomach. Noticable alcohol in the finish. Medium-full body and medium carbonation. The mouthfeel is lush and creamy. Overall, very drinkable and beautifully crafted.

12 oz. draft at Plan B in Glastonbury, CT. Deep copper amber pour with a thin off white head and minimal lacing. Aroma is caramel, piney hops, bitter orange, alcohol. Taste is very sweet, some bready earthy notes to go with he caramel. Plenty of west coast hops on the finish, with lingering sweetness and bitterness. Nice chewy mouthfeel, alcohol presence is noticeable but warming. Good big brew from Stone.

It’s the 2008 vintage on draft at the brewery in Escondido. Pours brown with no head. Not a lot of carbonation but it still has a a lot of citrus on the tongue. Hides the alcohol extraordinarily well. It’s interesting in its current state but it, I’m guessing, in no way compares to what this would be like fresh.

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
2013 bottle at 11.2% ABV. This beer pours a gorgeous hazy color that blends red, orange, and brown, and there is a large off-white head, some fine sediment floating throughout the liquid, and incredible lacing on the glass. The aroma has a mixture of equal parts of each of its components: booze, floral hops, diacetyl, and bread or caramel malts. The taste is not as hoppy as I was expecting, and I must say that the mild sweetness offsets the mild bitterness well. The way this beer coats the mouth is interesting; its oily texture, soft body, and medium body make for an easy trip over the tongue, and the long finish that is both slightly bitter and slightly boozy keeps you wanting more. Quite a tasty brew this one is.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
22 oz bottle for 7.99. Pours a reddish copper with a small light brown head. Aroma is heavy pine hops, but also a caramel malt backing. Taste mostly lies in the malt realm with some hops, an extremely strong kick of bitterness and a little alcohol at the end. Body is a little bit above medium, slighty creamy and thick texture. It’s an ojbectively good beer but not really my thing. Not something I would drink regularly.

22oz bottle of 2013 release. Pours a reddy brown color with a small amount of head. Great hop flavor, not too bitter, balanced against a strong maltiness. Not too sweet and only mild hint of the high alcohol content.

pours a lovely dark mahogany with a white head. has a very robust sweet smell of malt and hops. The taste is very malt forward but then the hops hit you. has a very bitter finish that lingers.
