portermax55 (118), Canterbury, Connecticut, USA Dec 10, 2007 22oz. bomber. Pours a clear, dark copper color with a thin, white head that dissipates quickly. Heavy aromas of citrus fruit, hops, grass and some hints of apple. Flavor is of bitter fruits and hops, but has hints of sweet caramel and some spicey notes. Mouthfeel is very soft and smooth. Better then Arrogant Bastard and one of the best Stone brews I have tried. AgentSteve (1334), SF Bay Area, California, USA Dec 9, 2007 Pours mahogany color with frothy head. Nose is very sweet, with malt and bread influence, and a bit sugary. Flavor is complex with malt, sugar, dried fruit. Creamy mouthfeel and clean finish. Great beer! robforbes (1083), Bremerton, Washington, USA Dec 9, 2007 Updated: Dec 23, 2008old rating:

pour is a cloudy dark copper with a red tint, a small tan head, and good lacing.
smell is caramel, hops, malts, some pear, and earthly.
taste is creamy, somewhat sour, light grapefruit, caramel, bitterness that grows as you drink, and dry leaves, end is nicely bitter and thick. BossHossBikes (147), Tennessee, USA Dec 8, 2007 Bottle. Ah, the Double Bastard. I’ve been looking forward to this since I started to get into craft beer. One of my first craft beers was the Arrogant Bastard. And now, having obtained this, I’m quite ecstatic. As I pour this, it’s a dark ruby/amber with a really nice, velvety light tan head. As I swirl this beer, a cloud of bubbles engulfs the beer about one inch from the surface. The aroma is very intense in grapefruit and hops with subtle hints of banana. There are a darker fruit aroma to it, but I can’t exactly pinpoint what fruit it resembles. As I start to quaff this beer, the pine and sharp grapefruit citrus qualities becomes very evident. More subtle notes, such as banana and darker fruits start to appear as the brew starts to pass the tongue. The finish is dry, much like a grainy bread, and a hopsy bitter. The alochol in it is a little noticeable as it warms the chest. This is amazing. This has lived up to my anticipation. luv2brew (177), Chesterfield, Virginia, USA Dec 8, 2007 tangy candy like nose, almost peach nose. This has a massive malty sweetness. it has a hint of caramel. The bottom line is this just haves a lot of malt. There is a bitterness at the end but it is not as aggressive as I thought this was going to be. It iis actually more balanced than regular
Arrogant Bastard. I actually like it more than the original. hiddenvariable (194), pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Dec 8, 2007 bottle. pours a hazy dark reddish brown, with a thin off-white head that quickly recedes to a film. smell of caramel malt, citrusy hops, dark fruits, a bit of wood, and strong alcohol. a hint of cherry in the taste, with a bit less alcohol as was in the nose, but plenty nonetheless. light spice and a touch of floral/citrus hop, as well. finishes with a bit of alcohol bitterness, and a decent sweetness to balance it. fairly full-bodied, with a good coating mouthfeel and moderate carbonation. not my favorite offering from stone. the alcohol taste nearly overwhelms what would otherwise be a pretty tasty beer. wj94 (64), Virginia, USA Dec 7, 2007 I love Arrogant Bastard, but I loved this one even more. Oddly, I thought it was a little more subdued than the Arrogant, which really attacks your taste buds. Pours a deep brown color with little head or lacing. Sweet malt, caramel flavor, hops are not overly done here, surprisingly. Mouthfeel is fantastic. Awesome beer. BelgianBeerGal (1276), Sabbatical in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA Dec 7, 2007 Updated: Mar 27, 2008Bottled. Pours a deep mahogany hue with ruby red highlights. Small tan head settles into a film with no lacing. HUGE aroma: pine resin, green apples, and mandarin oranges. Flavour is crushing hops of sweet pink grapefruit. Bitterness is nice but holds a little long. Very unique beer.
