COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is a lacerative muther of a beer. The evil big brother of Arrogant Bastard Ale. It is strongly suggested you stay far, far away from this beer. Those foolish enough to venture close enough to taste will experience a punishingly unforgiving assault on the palate. ’Course there’s always the masochists...

(*2011): Ce qui me frappe le plus fort mis à part les fruits exotiques et l’amertume narcotique, c’est la rondeure incomparable qu’on doit traverser à chaque gorgée.

Intense. This beer lives up to it’s name and description, very complex aroma and super bitter shock and linger to the taste buds. Extremely dry, bitter and alcohol after taste but surprisingly smooth and easy to drink (especially for the 10+ ABV)

22 oz bottle from binnys. 2010 vintage. Ar. Boozy dried fruits dominate the nose. Hop character pretty mild on the nose. A bit of pine. Ap. Deep hazy orange pour. A bit of a head but leaves nice lace. T. Quite boozy here despite relaxing for a year. Date prominent, the fruity flavor from Chinese black vinegar without the vinegar ness. That doesn t make sense. Moderate bitterness on the finish. Nice contrast with the sweetness. P. Thick body, quite sticky. Mildish carbonation.

2011 bomber pours a hazy burnt orange with light tan head. Thin crisp aroma of slightly roasted grain, a sweet apple and some booze. Up front it is robust and grainy but it also carries a big hop kick of pine and citrus, somewhere between orange peel and grapefruit bitterness with the pine. The hops kind of soften the blow of grain and at the same time make it a bigger beer, although it goes down pretty easy with smooth carbonation and a medium body. The hops really dominate as it kind of has an oily palate that quickly turns dry with some grain texture in the bitterness and a touch of wood. It is close to a double ipa but has too much in it for the style. Overall it is a really nice strong ale that doesn’t get too boozy.

Draft at Iron Abbey with Ann, Linh, and James. Pours a very dark shoe polish brown with a nice mocha head. Aroma is only slightly hoppy. I believe i’m picking up some mustiness in the nose too. Taste is not overly aggressive as you’d believe it to be. Very nicely rounded between a slight bitterness and a nice caramel maltiness. Not extremely hoppy, but a great American Strong.

Got to try some of this at the Brew’s Best Beer Fest on my trip to Vegas, fall 2011. Actually, started there (as I really did not want to miss this one). Amber-copper colour with a nice creamy beige head that has great retention and decent lacing. The aromas are mixed between the grainy and roasted malts, with some farm notes (that are not offensive, but different). The taste has this great hoppy feel with medium bitterness and caramel in the background, with a dry-hopped finish that lingers. Quite a nice easy-drinking, heavy alcohol content brew.

Aroma of pine, caramel, and malts. Pours deep red and thick with a small white head. Taste is super intense and bitter. Feels like a hoppy barleywine. Pine, grass, caramel and alcohol

On keg at The BrewDog Bar. Pours a deep ruby colour with a thin beige head. Aroma of alcohol, passion fruit, grapefruit, sherry and pine. Flavours of plum pudding, sherry and treacle with alcohol quite present. Mild carbonation and a warming alcohol finish. A little metallic right at the end though.
