COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is a lacerative muther of a beer. The evil big brother of Arrogant Bastard Ale. It is strongly suggested you stay far, far away from this beer. Those foolish enough to venture close enough to taste will experience a punishingly unforgiving assault on the palate. ’Course there’s always the masochists...

Bottle at Chris_O bottlefest 2007. Attractive red/amber colour with lasting cream coloured head. Fresh hop grapefruit aroma. Vanilla, syrupy in mouth and then really aggressive hop on end. It’s unsubtle. I prefered the standard Arrogant Bastard. Sticky. A bit like emery paper over the tongue.

Bottle, 22oz. A reddish golden beer with a slight haze. Dense, beige head of low height. Quite intense aroma with lots of sweetish maltyness, beefstock, caramel, piney and resiny hops, and some alcohol. Maybe a bit too sweet on the palate, with a lasting alcohol warmth, but there’s enough hops to justice it. Piney, resiny bitterness with a citrusy touch. Sweet and bitter finish. A big, bold beer, but very satisfying. (080811)

Bottled 660ml (Beer Hunters, 2011 release)
Ruby-brown color, tiny off-white head. Dark bready, citrusy, hoppy, salty and salt licorice aroma. Medium to full bodied. Licoricey, salty, bready flavor. Then excessive bitterness, spices and citrus in the aftertaste. Ultimate bitterness. For slow drinking.

Light reddish-brown; aroma of dying embers, toffee, cherry cheesecake, earthy hops; this is thick! thick! thick!. Similar flavour profile to Bastard but a lot bigger; dry finish with the highest Lovibond crystal malts involved.

(2002 release): I'd waited so long for this beer -- first, knowing it was out there, and then finding out that a small shipment was making it to dc, only to find out that the 2 bottles my retailer had set aside for me had mistakenly been sold (it turns out they were sold to daniwerks (and to his credit, one evening he actually gave me a few ounces to sip!)). Second, I'd asked my brother in Phoenix to pick up three bottles, but when I got out there last month, it runs out he'd mistaken one bastard for another, picking up AB instead of DB (definitely not a member of this site). Fortunately, Gusler came to the rescue, and provided me a bottle from his cellar. So after all that effort, did I like what I found? Hell yes. Clear ruby body with minimal head. Aroma is grapefruit hoppy, cherry, flowery hoppy, mildly sweet, rich and inviting. Taste is a rich amalgam of flavors -- floral hop, grapefruit hop, cherry, toffee, and orange. Finishes with a warming alcohol burn. Thank you sir, can I have another?
