Commercial Description:
This is a lacerative muther of a beer. The evil big brother of Arrogant Bastard Ale. It is strongly suggested you stay far, far away from this beer. Those foolish enough to venture close enough to taste will experience a punishingly unforgiving assault on the palate. ’Course there’s always the masochists...

Bottle from xmarcnolanx. Yep... it’s an ASA. Aroma of sweet, rich malt with lots of sticky pine resin. Pours rich, full mahogany with bright ruby highlights. Frotli khaki head leaving lots of sticky lacing. Flavor is quite malty with the dry piney hops interwoven throughout. Creamy and mostly full bodied with lively carbonation. Finishes with a big burst of dry, lingering hops.

Vintage 2003 pours to an electric shade of fiery orange. Nose of slight pine, bigger cedar, and dominant pleasant-smelling cleaning products. Woods, paper, hay, and caramel in the flavor - not immensely intense or intimidating, seeming to have settled into somewhat colorless territory over the years. Retains a forceful alcoholic undercurrent.

Poured from bottle. Ruby red with medium size white head that gives way to good lacing. Floral aroma with alcohol present. Hop flavor with some sweet grapes and alchohol burn. Great coating mouthfeel. Very enjoyable beer.

Pours mahogany color with frothy head. Nose is very sweet, with malt and bread influence, and a bit sugary. Flavor is complex with malt, sugar, dried fruit. Creamy mouthfeel and clean finish. Great beer!

2003 bottle. Creamy off-white head that lasts a while... clear deep ruby / mahogany body. Initial whiff of the aroma brought a sweet hoppy and BMW leather aroma. Also seems a bit fruity... like fruity liquor; blueberry schnapps and cherry. Taste is sweet, strong, and bitter. Orange, wood, brown sugar, alcohol. I like the way the alcohol isn’t too unpleasant... the hops and sweetness seem to block that nicely, without having it be too sweet.

bottle (2006 vintage)....pours a reddish caramel brown with a thin off-white head....nose was of strong/rich sweet caramel malt with very little hop presence if at all....flavors of sweet caramel malt which then gives way to some assertive piney bitter hops which would be even more prevalent if drunken fresh.......pretty good.
