This is a lacerative muther of a beer. The evil big brother of Arrogant Bastard Ale. It is strongly suggested you stay far, far away from this beer. Those foolish enough to venture close enough to taste will experience a punishingly unforgiving assault on the palate. ’Course there’s always the masochists...

I’ve had the bomber but this review is of this beer out of a huge 3L bottle split with friends. Thanks Dan! Pours a nice crystal ruby color with an eggshell head. Smells great, very hoppy, piney, spicy, caramel, little toffee, slightly citrus. Taste is serious, very up front bitter and hoppy, earthy, piney, spicy, notes of caramel, roasty malts. Really complex flavor. Heavy on the palate, rich chewy mouthfeel with a lasting bitterness. It’s like an American bitter that’s super duper hopped. I love it and love the 3 liter bottle. Double bastard rules

APPEARANCE - Orange with no head. AROMA/SCENT - Hoppy, piney. Not sweet. TASTE - Hoppy, dry, bitter. ABV well-hidden. MOUTHFEEL/PALATE/TEXTURE - Pleasant, dry, little carbonation. VALUE - Reasonable. OVERALL/DRINKABILITY - Great beer, almost chuggable.

Beautiful dark amber hue make this beer look like some I will love. It has a strong malt aroma a big taste upfront which grows into a powerful rich lasting flavor. Not for the timid that is for sure. It leaves a taste on you tongue which won't let you forget about that next sip and near forces you to bring that glass to you lips or open that second bottle. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Gediget helgjuten produkt.

22oz bottle. Pours a dark amber color with a two finger off-white head that leaves thick lacing. The aroma is malt forward with sweet and bready malts, raisins, overripe orange, and booze. Taste is very smooth with caramel, bready malts, some alcohol heat, cherries, raisins, and figs, along with burnt toast and roasted malt. The boozy heat hides beneath the hop bitterness up front but slowly intensifies through the middle to the end. Finishes with a soft, slightly dry feel with lingering pine hop bitterness and lots of boozy heat.

22 oz bottle. Aroma: boozy, woody, and very malty, with hints of toffee. Taste/Palate: thick, crisp, and very sweet; finishes with a long bitterness. Incredible and over-the-top hop/malt balance. Another perfect beer from Stone!

On tap. Pours a dark reddish brown with moderate head. Light aromas of dark sweet fruit, caramel, and sweet malts. Flavors are same with a big dose of bitter dry fruity hops. Good but over rated.

Tap from Maltitude. Pours cloudy amber with white head. Aroma of floral hops. Flavor of bitter hops, caramel, and more hops. Bitter hoppy finish. Very tasty.

Bottled 10/08/13. Pours a cloudy amber with a subtle off-white/tan head. The nose is a bit sour with a hint of ash. If you inhale through your mouth at the lip of the glass before you sip, there is a very hoppy floral nose. The flavor is unexpected .... a hoppy, smoked caramel .... A hop bite that carries through to a smokey, charcoal, caramel finish. Lovely. I would let this get closer to 55°, the flavors are much more pronounced .... ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

66 cl bottle @ home (2013 vintage). Pours clear reddish amber with an off-white head that leaves some lacing. Aroma and flavour are caramel, sweet malt, pine, and resin - with a slightly bitter finish.
