4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
It pours a nice rich dark red with a one inch foamy white head which lasts a considerable while. Lots of hops are seen floating throughout the body. The smell is sweet malts up front and in the beginning and as the beer warms more hops comes out. The taste follows the smell and becomes increasingly hoppy bitter and yet citrusy sweet, becoming very powerful. The palate is about a medium to perhaps heavy, some slight lingering sharpness coming out slightly strong near the end of the beer. Overall, this is a complex beer and pleasing beer that I would absolutely come back to.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottled. Pours nice dark copper. Has a nice dark Ale taste. The only thing I don’t like is the alcohol aftertaste other then that it is a great beer.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 7/20
Pours dark amber and big lasting head. Smell is sweet and boozy. Isn’t as horid as I was expecting. Drinks mild but finishes big and boozy and too sweet.

Not entirely sure why they sell these in such big bottles. Slightly irresponsible I would suggest . Luckily I’m already on the sofa. Raisiny , pruney, very alcoholic. Slight chocolate. Intense. I can’t argue with this beer, one winner.

4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Intense! Holy mother. I wish I had the regular bastard to compare as it feels somehow even stronger. Simple palate but complex taste. Not for anyone but the most ready for extreme beers.

Murky, brown’ish, tan head.
All the American Strong Ale characteristics. Pine, grape fruit, caramel, almost roasted, fruity. Sweet, bitter. Clearly not fresh but still very tasty:-)

3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle from Julio’s. A clear deep amber. Tan head that settles to a thin lace. Aroma of earthy sweet fruit. Alcohol is very well masked. Flavor is deep and complex. Well balanced bitterness and very smooth drinking. Notes of chocolate, prune, herbs, pine and coffee. Long lingering bitter finish.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle @ Dangerous Bottleshares 1 year anniversary. Pours red amber with a beige head. Aroma has some rather big hoppy notes up front, behind that comes all the sweetness. Caramel, big fat sweet plums, deep malty profile and some weak vinous notes. The taste is hoppy with all of that big fat sweet fruity notes which leads to some vinous associations. Alcohol is quite present and the end is rather bitter from the hops. Yet this beer is a pleasure to sip but is indeed a mother drugger in terms of being intense.

One of my favorites! A bit pricey but occasionally worth it. Usually only a seasonal bear.

From the 2015 batch. Bottled 10/15/15. I actually thought I had reviewed this one before now. Reddish-brown pour under a full cream colored, foamy head. Interesting aroma of barley malts, grain, sweetness, but it really feels full all around. The body is medium to full. A bit more alcohol in the taste but everything else reflects the characters I picked up on the nose.
