This is a lacerative muther of a beer. The evil big brother of Arrogant Bastard Ale. It is strongly suggested you stay far, far away from this beer. Those foolish enough to venture close enough to taste will experience a punishingly unforgiving assault on the palate. ’Course there’s always the masochists...

Hazy dark amber pour on draft at Republic. Thick off white head. Malty nose. Big sweet taste, lots of hops and a big bitterness in the finish. Really nice. Big and kick ass for sure.

14th March 2014, large bottle at a barbeque in Newport Beach, bought and took the bottle myself and didn’t share it! Aggressive little bugger isn’t it. Hops full on in the mouth, yet it has a sweeter maltier nose: bitter in flavour with a definite Barley wine undertone. A fine beer in all aspects.

Good beer. Very malty. Strong. Thick head with a great brown color. Starts and ends strong. Like a loaf of bead. At 11.2% it gets your attention. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Keg at Ushers, at 10.5%. Pours clear deep ruby. Nose is sweet burnt toffee, malts, dried fruits. Very nice. Taste is sweet oaky caramel or burnt toffee, more oak and wood, decent bitterness, loads of maltiness. Very nice. Needless to say but this kind of beer out of keg without 30mins warming simply tastes horribly boozy.

Shared bottle at Cardinal, Stavanger. Pours almost clear dark golden with a tiny white head. Aroma is heavy sweet and bitter, resiny and piney hops. Taste is llight sweet, like a barley wine with a decent dry hoppy finish, resiny and moreish.

Strong and rich, I'm sure I'd be happier drinking out of a glass, rather than a cup. Rich and malty, the hops really fade into the background for me on this one. The alcohol is always lurking in the background.

Bottle from Julio’s. A clear deep amber. Tan head that settles to a thin lace. Aroma of earthy sweet fruit. Alcohol is very well masked. Flavor is deep and complex. Well balanced bitterness and very smooth drinking. Notes of chocolate, prune, herbs, pine and coffee. Long lingering bitter finish.

Pours deep mahogany brown with a very nice yellow-tan head. Aroma is potent caramel malts with some citrus hop. Taste is wham-bam thank you ma'am sticky molasses malt with some cotemp bitterness and a very happy aftertaste. Not too boozy despite its ABV. Bold but a bit sweet.

Rating #1456 - 01.02.2015 - Bottle from @beerblast. Pours a copper amber, and exudes hoppiness right from the get go, powerful citrusy, grainy, fruity hops on the nose. Medium heavy carbonation, huge alcohol warmth. ABV not well disguised by hop character - foolishly absurd malty sweetness trainwrecked by aggressive bitterness, and punishing alcohol. Borderline stupid, and doesn’t hold a candle to its true champion little brother.
