COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is a lacerative muther of a beer. The evil big brother of Arrogant Bastard Ale. It is strongly suggested you stay far, far away from this beer. Those foolish enough to venture close enough to taste will experience a punishingly unforgiving assault on the palate. ’Course there’s always the masochists...

UPDATED: MAY 13, 2009 Pours a hazy brown/orange color with a thick dense cream head. Smells of sweet citrus and caramel. The hops are very strong, giving tastes of citrus fruits like orange and grapefruit. Medium body with lively carbonation. Finishes bitter and lingers. A little astringent.

Butters Big Blowout - Pours a dark amber with white head. Fruity, malt, hops and alcohol present in the aroma. Smells like a barley wine. Same in taste, burnt finish. Nice stout.

Pours cloudy brown with contrasting white head that doesn’t retain too long. Nose has brown sugar, miscellaneous candy, black tea, and dry brown paper bag smells. On the palate is a strong malt presence that is syrupy and reminds me of caramel or other similar chewy candies, but the hops and alcohol kick in to balance it out. Overall it is a big, chewy, savory beer that is surprisingly easy to drink.

Bottle form 07. Pours a nice dark brown color with just a little bit of a off white head. Has a grain smell to it. Has a caramel flavor with a some hoppy bitterness to it. Possibly a little chocolate on the finish there as well.

UPDATED: MAY 19, 2011 a bigger bastard. way thicker mouthfeel, higher alcohol that is well hidden. not to much different that the regular, just heavier and gets you drunker. great malt and hop. seems to be double malt but not quite the double hop. great though... still on tap at foundry. its a 2010. pretty great sort of barleywine thing going on with the hops changing, not as sharp with the age. toffee.

Dark amber, slightly cloudy, tan head. Sweet malt and pine in the nose. Taste is bitter with slight hints of molasses or brown sugar. Finish continues with bitterness and the feel of alcohol. Lots of flavor in this one.

UPDATED: JUN 9, 2012 A: Mahogany body with a thick offwhite head. Good lacing. S: Mixture of pine and caramel malts take center stage. Some citric hop bitterness as well. T: Nicely balanced as caramel malt and pine bitterness. Again the citric notes ride in here as well and highlight the complexity of the brew. Booze shines through. M: Medium-full body. Good carbonation. Clean, bitter finish. O: The 10.5 creeps in by the end and starts to dampen the drinkability of an otherwise good beer. Will have from time to time when I see it.

Amber with a cream head, hazy. Aroma is pineapple and some citrus (I’ve noticed the pineapple before in the oaked bastard, perhaps it’s from a specific hop used in this line of beers.) Body is rather light for the style, unexpected, not syrupy really, light silk feel from the carbonation. I nice change of pace from other syrupy ASA’s. Flavor is more of a pine flavor with some citrus, huge bitterness, light caramel, but really just the right amount to keep the hops in balance. Cool

Aroma of sweet clean fresh fruit maybe dark fruit, some vanilla/coconut,heavy hop resin flavor/bittering, piney some with some citrus, dark toasty roasty roubust malt with vanilla notes.Robust dry roasty bitter finish with mild sweet malt/fruit notes, can detect the alcohol presence some.Better creamy mouth feel as it warms.Alcohol notes are stronger too. Hazy dark reddish brown with light creamy head and some lacing
