3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: FEB 27, 2006 Cloudy light brown with huge dense off white head.Floral hops and toffee carmel malt nose. The malt beginning with alcohol heat that intensifies at it warms. Spicy. As strong as the alcohol is, it doesn’t strongly overpower. However this beer is overrated, especially on this site

Too much of everything. They got it right on the Arrogant Bastard, but they just went too far with this. It's the equivalent of pouring an entire bottle of A1 on a steak, and trying to pass it off as delicious. Too much malty, too much hop, too much caramel.
This is a perfect example of the idea that just because you have the ability to do something doesn't necessaraly mean you should.

3.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: OCT 25, 2005 bottled: i like AB but im not over the top like most you guys are about it, so it has alot of hops and some more alcohol...oooh?! DB pushes it way further then the AB to the left. too much for me unless your only gonna drink one beer and one beer only. no real carbonation at least its gone pretty quick and you need it to last because this aint no chugging beer. high alchohol sweetness and of course over the top hops in your face some raisin overtones but mostyl bittering floral hops. i think im going to make a beer and put a monster of some sort on it and call it quadruple homicide....’drink this and you and your friends will die, if you dare.’ i ll probably have beer geeks lining the streets. i prefer AB to this, maybe im just too big of a pussy for this beer. love most all stone beers but as my friend said after he drank his DB....’that stuff is unfriendly’

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Dark brown body with purple highlights. Not a whole lot of carbonation, short-lived wispy white head. The aroma has orange dream ice cream along with wheat bread. Big flavor, starts with brown sugar, apple skin, grapefruit rind mixed with the aforementioned brown sugar. The big flavor and alcohol serve to overwhelm the palate, preventing appreciation of whatever complexity might be in there. Or maybe it’s just not that complex in the first place, just "big".

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
2004 release. Bright red-brown colour with a thick light brown head. Very sweet malty aroma, bready, cookie dough, biscuit malt with a spicy hop aroma. Flavour is malty and sweet up front, cookie dough, caramel and a light spicy hop flavour before a huge bitterness explodes across the palate. As it wams, there is a strange chemical aroma/flavour that comes across. Pretty good, but way overrated in my opinion.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pour was a dark murky brown, nose filled with dark fruits, nuts, malts. Very heavy brew, taste similar to smell but more potent. Overall an enjoyable experience. Thanks to brewmaster for the hookup.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: AUG 16, 2011 Cloudy brown-amber, fine off white foam, bushy herbal bracing hops, bitter caramels, slightly buttery, hints of anise. Apparent alcohol, warming and cutting through the creamy feel of the body. Interesting to revisit -- a see lot in my old rating that rings true while I’ve got a different perspective now a decade later. The nearest comparison I’ve had is probably from Hair Of The Dog. Thanks, LagunitasFan!
Initial Rating Date: 12/24/2001 3:52:33 AM Cloudy amber. Rich caramels, lots of malt aroma with some new tinge of yeastiness, alcohol pepper and feel, and smack your ass dry hopping getting you in the end. The 10% 22 oz. bottle definitely packs a whallop. Again, good stuff.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: MAR 31, 2009 Big sugary thick nose. Hops and alcohol show up late in the drink, and it’s a little musty in the finish. Nice flavors of dark, old fruit, lots of alcohol in the nose. Good carbonation and body. Dark murky deep amber hue with a dark tan head. More alcohol in the nose than Arrogant Bastard, but the overall sugar taste is not something I enjoy. I like AB more than this one.

3.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Reddish amber color, full tan head. Very mild aroma, some light, spicy hops, a pinch of malt. The flavor was much better, fruity, spicy, hoppy, with a decent kick of alcohol. Fuller bodied, some alcohol, but not too much. I’m disappointed. I have another bomber though so I’ll see if that one’s any better.
