COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is a lacerative muther of a beer. The evil big brother of Arrogant Bastard Ale. It is strongly suggested you stay far, far away from this beer. Those foolish enough to venture close enough to taste will experience a punishingly unforgiving assault on the palate. ’Course there’s always the masochists...

Rather enjoyable, but this definitely not a brew you can drink too many of in one day. Hops, hops and more hops. A sweetness of caramel is definitely present, but not distracting. Nice head.

Thanks to TannerTavernBoys for sharing this monster. Aroma is sweet caramel with heavy alcohol presence and piney hops. Nice brown color to the beer with a white head that forms a halo around the glass. Flavor is very sweet with caramel malt and toffee. The finish is lots of piney hops and even more alcohol flavor. It is a bit thick and syrupy. A nice beer, but I prefer the Arrogant Bastard. The alcohol was not at all hidden in this. Definitely worth trying though.

From a 22oz Bottle, 2060 Vintage. Pours a deep cherry wood color with a well sustaining layer of foamy cream head. Semi-transparent, beautiful coloring. Gripping aroma. A load of citrusy hops bites the nose instantly while drifting in for the first whiff. Creeping in more slowly gets past the somewhat harsh hops and moves on the reveal some soft white apricot fruits. Full bodied, heavy mouthfeel with a mild, soothing carbonation. A touch of caramelly sweetness starts out on the tongue before ending with the expected whallop of hop bitterness. Lots of malt, lots of body, but the complexity seems to be missing. Just a lot of crystal malt and piney spruce hop resin bitterness going on. On the plus side, the craftsmanship is excellent - great body, great head retention, and the alcohol is masked frighteningly well. Good overall, but the malt and hop characters strike me as rich, but not complex overall. For my money, I would rather simply drink the standard AB, as the flavors are practically the same, and take advantage of the lighter, less chewy body and increased drinkability.

UPDATED: DEC 2, 2011 Lacerative is about right. I picked up several 2006 bottles, which was not surprisingly hot while fresh. After almost a year I decided it was time to crack another. Still hot! What’s here so far is AB on steroids, with the same aggressive profile but with less depth than the original. At times it even seemed to border on the one-dimensional, since the alcohol was in danger of occluding the beer’s other characteristics. Obviously from my rating, I still rate this as enjoyable. But we’ll see what some more time does to this one.

UPDATED: MAR 5, 2009 Poured from a bomber. Poured a deep amber color with a soft beige head. Sweet malt aroma with a hint of hops. After the first sip, I am surprised how relatively mellow it is. Nice sweet malty flavor with a hint of fruit (apple, perhaps?) that leads into a healthy dose of hops that dry the palate out. Somewhat chewy but not overpowering. Another good beer from Stone.

(bottle from AJ’s Glendale, AZ-2007 release): Pours a reddish brown color body, clearish. Big tan head, lasting. Sweet caramel aroma, not as hoppy as the original. Somewhat grapey, effervescent. Caramel taste, not as hoppy. Sweet & malty. Caustic taste, some hops. Dry.

Bomber. This one pours amber with an off-white head. The aroma is earthy, malty, and of course somewhat hoppy. The flavor is big, as expected with huge hop flavor citrus and resin, although there is some toffee/nutty maltiness in this one.Medium body that hides the alcohal fairly well. Big bitter hop finish. A strong bitter beer that is not for the faint of heart. A fun hoppy beer that is not quite balanced enough to be considered outstanding. Still very good.

Light brown amber color. Caramel malty aroma and super strong hoppy smell. Big hop bomb taste, to asaualting of a beer. Made to be offensive to your palate just to be offensive and say they are cool, not my style. Good notes would be it hides the alc completey, drinking a whole bottle will most likely get you a buzz.
