This is a lacerative muther of a beer. The evil big brother of Arrogant Bastard Ale. It is strongly suggested you stay far, far away from this beer. Those foolish enough to venture close enough to taste will experience a punishingly unforgiving assault on the palate. ’Course there’s always the masochists...

Shared bottle at Cardinal, Stavanger. Pours almost clear dark golden with a tiny white head. Aroma is heavy sweet and bitter, resiny and piney hops. Taste is llight sweet, like a barley wine with a decent dry hoppy finish, resiny and moreish.

Strong and rich, I'm sure I'd be happier drinking out of a glass, rather than a cup. Rich and malty, the hops really fade into the background for me on this one. The alcohol is always lurking in the background.

Bottle from Julio’s. A clear deep amber. Tan head that settles to a thin lace. Aroma of earthy sweet fruit. Alcohol is very well masked. Flavor is deep and complex. Well balanced bitterness and very smooth drinking. Notes of chocolate, prune, herbs, pine and coffee. Long lingering bitter finish.

Tap at BrewDog Manchester. Hazy red. Ring of head. Big aroma of piney, resinous hops and strawberry jam. Taste seems exactly like the regular version but bigger and more powerful. Retains good drinkability though. Good stuff.

0.15 l on tap at ’Beertemple’. Clear, very dark red with a medium large, frothy, stable, tan head. Sweetish-fruity aroma of caramel, red fruits, some raisins and molasses. Sweetish-malty taste of caramel, raisins, prunes, molasses and red fruits, followed by a medium long, slightly bitter finish with some boozy hints. Full body, oily mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Very sweet, not that complex but very tasty.

Rubí oscuro y limpio con espuma marfil. Aromas de malas caramelo, anís, herbáceos y cítricos. Cuerpo denso y maltoso con iniciativa dulce acaramelado y un final de amargor resinoso intenso.

Tap@Taphouse, Copenhagen (Stone TTO 27/11/2016) - dark amber brown coloured pour with beige head. Medium sweet malty aroma and taste, toasty, caramel, toffee, brown sugar, dried fruity and nutty, some spices on the palate, medium sweet bitter finish

Dark amber, clear (hop haze on the bottom of the bottle), small head. Sweet candy in the aroma. More candies in the taste along with good long lasting hoppy bitterness.

A huge, yawling beer, expansive and complex. I think that this is good beer, but I’m afraid that this impression arose because there’s so much of everything, not necessarily because of inherent quality. The alcohol is certainly not well hidden in the aroma or flavor. Strong caramel and toffee flavors present. Big and brutish; almost punishing. What a bastard. I like it!

Not my favorite from this brewery, which cranks out the best IPAs of all time, IMO. The "commercial description" is, unfortunately, dead on. Harsh alcohol smell, and lots of alcohol in the mouth. Good old Stone stand bys of huge hop and malt, but it's somehow unbalanced for me, particularly a kind of off bitterness from the hopping. Not sure what's going on there ('cause I love the hops, in general). What I like best in this beer is its aftertaste, which is comparatively mellow, honeyed, and full. In the glass it's a beautiful ruby with a short lived beige head.
