COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is a lacerative muther of a beer. The evil big brother of Arrogant Bastard Ale. It is strongly suggested you stay far, far away from this beer. Those foolish enough to venture close enough to taste will experience a punishingly unforgiving assault on the palate. íCourse thereís always the masochists...

Pours a medium to dark golden brown color. Three-finger head of light tan foam. Great retention and sticky, clumpy lacing. Not a whole lot in the smell department. Light hints of sweet malts and some floral and citrus hops notes. Light caramel presence, but mostly hops. Hey, what do you know? A beer from Stone thatís actually getting close to being balanced. The hops still dominate, as usual, but itís closer. This has an underlying sweet malty profile that, for once, is actually putting up a good effort to get noticed. Mild caramel and sweet malt taste. Pine and grapefruit notes. Slight bitterness. Not nearly as harsh as Arrogant Bastard. Smooth and basically creamy. Just a slight touch of sharpness. Nice lower medium level of carbonation. I have to say that, being from Stone (who I actually like, despite how it may sound), this is a pretty darn drinkable beer. I find most of their brews to be way out of balance, but this one goes down pretty smooth. At this point in time, this would be my ígo-toí beer from Stone.

"Iím a huge Stone fan, not a big fan of Arrogant Bastard, so I didnít know what to expect from this one. Stronger, but smoother, than itís little brother, and significantly better. Big hops and malt all around. Quite hoppy/bitter for a barleywine. thoroughly enjoyed several vintages at Stone."

Aroma: intense grain malts, heavy, ripe fruits, caramel, alcohol. Appearance: hazy, dark amber, small, beige head. Taste: light sweet. Palate: very sweet malts expanding, intense overripe fruit, alcohol, turning very bitter and slightly dry in the finish. Overall: very nice IIPA, excellent aroma. Pint at Stone Brewing, Escondido.

Eh itís okay. Itís a strong beer for sure and lives up to its name. All the things about not being worthy etc itís not that tough. Aroma is syrupy sweetness. Lots and lots of malt. Like a ton. Not bad just donít expect something else. The taste is alright. I heard from people it has a really subtle alcohol burn and thatís true. For how high ABV it is it definitely doesnít show which is good. Realllllly bitter, and sweet. Some hopiness but definitely takes a backstage to the sweet malt. Itís not bad just in my opinion kind of average. I couldnít really pick out something i really liked about it.

Pours a hazy copper color. Caramel citrusy taste. Hoppy flavor. Thick on the palat. Low carbonation but the head retention is very good. Alcohol warmth is noticable but not overpowering.

Mikon luona. Really thick, complex, roasted malty taste with well balanced drying aftertaste. Wonderful.

From bomber. Pours a copper red with a big fluffy head and lots of lacing on the glass. Aroma is toffee and caramel and pine. Taste is the same, with a big malty sweetness and an even bigger hoppy pine bite. This is Stone, after all. This is like a big hoppy barleywine. Alcohol is present, but not as obvious as the ABV would lead you to believe. Bitter finish. A delightful BIG beer.
