Bottle @ home. Dark brown with a deep dark red glow coming through. Full off-white head. Smell some coffee, sweetness, ash and earth. Taste lightly coffee, maybe a hint of sweetness but more sour, though not really offensive. Slightly unbalanced. Low to medium carbo, medium body.

bottle from beer planet. bbf mar 2009 brewed mar 2007 tasted sep 2011 clear dark red/brown smooth light brown head. aroma of raisins, dark fruts, chocolate. reminds me mostly of a quad aroma, not much alc. though. flavor is honey, dark fruits, chocolate, faint licorice, faint tartness. could be a little infected or it could be age. Flavor again is more like a quad than like a sweet stout. could be the age. Palate is oily.

An almost black, might actually be, pour with ruby highlights. Can’t see through it though, just from the light striking the sides do I see any other color. Small creamy tan head that leaves barely a trace of lacing as it quickly subsides. Big honey aroma. Smells like I poured a glass of honey instead of beer. Creamy honey taste. And yet again de Bie doesn’t disappoint me by including their signature metallic taste. A bit bitter in the back, mixed with a very sweet honey presence. Not bad. But they need to do something about the metallic taste they have in every beer they make.

DruncanVeasey (5150) - NUNEATON, Blue Square Prem, Warwickshire, ENGLAND - NOV 23, 2010
Bottle. Burgundy with a thinning tan slick resolving into spots. Some Flemish sour in the aroma, which is tangy and slightly acetic with background notes of blackcurrant, roasted malt and mushrooms cooked in red wine. Highly metallic and plastic-accented with bags of brown sugar, liquorice, blood-flecked honey and yeasty weirdness. Horribly rusty towards the bottom of the bottle. Stout my arse. Not very good.

Pours out very dark/redish colour, close to black. Nice light beige head, that holds good. Sour-sweet fruity smell. Not bad. A bit spiced. Sour-sweet red-fruits. A bit weak and plain. Nothing special for sure.

Almost completely black with no discernable head, and scant lacing. Aroma is dominated by roasted malts and licorice. Flavor is mostly licorice, slight sweetness, complex character. Good body, as expected for a beer of this type. Interesting and unique, one worth trying.

Bottle, 6%. Metallic aroma. Very dark brown colour, red shine, seems clear. Very small light brown head. The flavour has a lot of iron. Not undrinkable, but it takes a lot away from the enjoyment. Apart from the iron, it is OK roasted, a sort of dry dubbel.
