Deep gold with a white head with modest lacing. Malty toasted nose. Lots of malt flavour, decent hop bitters. The elements of a good beer are in there, but there’s no flavour.

Choos (507) - Taylors Hill, AUSTRALIA - MAY 24, 2004
Aroma lightly malty with a hint of apple. Amber (slight red tint), clear with a small head that leaves a foamy film lacing. Flavour is slightly malt but peters out to almost soda water and finishes a bit metallic and hoppy.

Found this beauty in a 16 oz can on my last beer hunting trip. A picture perfect ale as it sits in the glass, a creamy white head over a clear copper colored brew, just beautiful. Light hoppy scent with some herbal qualities. The head is very thick and creamy, imparts a touch of a floral hop flavor. The beer itself is mildly sweet and rather thin. This could be quaffed in mere seconds. The Burton salts & minerals are quite evident in this beer. Interesting but not special.

Canned version looks pretty good, and the beer has a strong malt flavour, but it is rather bland overall and doesn’t really stand out compared to other English ales available here. I’ll have it once and while though, but I wish we didn’t keep getting these bland versions of formerly (so I’m told) great beers over here.

lots of foam on top; heavy taste of bitters without any good flavour; extra creamy consistency accentuates the bad taste

This was quite nice after that Guinness. I asked the girl for something "dark, but not Guinness". This is what I got. Reminds me of Bass, but tinnier. I like it, and I'll buy again!

imdownthepub (7171) - Banbury, Oxfordshire, ENGLAND - APR 14, 2004
Tinned, pasteurised. Brown amber, highly carbonated. Sweet malt beer with caramel added, some bite in the finish from boiled vegetable matter. Poor quality beer.

Copper colored, medium white head. Hints of caramel, hops, and malt in the aroma and taste. Finishes with crisp hops and slight citrus.
