3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20 MrManning (1942) - London, Ontario, CANADA - MAR 4, 2004
Sample- 500 Ml bottle- Poured a thick white/orange head that stuck around for a few minutes. Aromas of fruit at first, and hints of malt afterwards. Body is a dark amber colour, and looks thick. Tastes of fruit, caramel, and malt in the background. It starts of smooth, and leaves a nice bitter taste in your throat. Decent.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 tiggmtl (4467) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - FEB 25, 2004
Sweet and sour notes in the fruity, caramel, aroma with some hoppiness off the top. Clear golden amber with thick, pillowy, large-bubbled, white head that recedes slowly leaving traces down the glass. Sweet and fruity (apple), with a nice, gentle, lasting bitterness in the finish. Medium body and decent carbonation lend this a pleasing mouthfeel. Bottle.
2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 eraserhd10 (226) - new haven, Connecticut, USA - FEB 22, 2004
Actually, I found this English Ale to be disappointing. Skunky smell and sourish taste. Not as smooth and/or balanced as a Bass, for instance. Reminds me of soggy Wheaties.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 TipsyMcStager (1065) - Calgary, Alberta, CANADA - FEB 19, 2004
pleasant, sweet malty aroma. Pours copper brown, thick white head with nice lacing. Hops in the flavour, a slight sweetness. Low on the malt. Not spectacular but not a bad english ale.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 nickchalk (229) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - FEB 18, 2004
Light amber, fake white head. Aroma is slightly hoppy, a little bready. Balanced flavour, while not outstading, is pretty decent. Creamy palate. Not bad. Nitro can.
2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 evinal (48) - Mattapoisett, Massachusetts, USA - FEB 18, 2004
Reminded me very much off bass. mild malt aroma, dissipating head. Somewhat thin palate. Still it was clean and refreshing and not the worst pale ale ive ever had.
3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20 bitter (1137) - Henderson, Nevada, USA - FEB 10, 2004
on tap and bottled: this used to be easy to find and since the mid 90's its pretty much gone, tetley im sure bought these guys out and may do some little promoting if none, maybe its not even brewed. prety much your typical english pale ale, bass, whitbread, watneys, double diamon, oh this is double diamond. used to be one of my faves. higher ratings may be nostalgic!
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 Tessic (611) - Brantford, Ontario, CANADA - FEB 8, 2004
This ale pours a dark orange colour with a white creamy head. Toasted grain and hops with citrus notes are present. Slightly metallic scent too. First sip is smooth and also metallic tasting. The flavour isn't watery but almost ????oily? It seems to coat the tongue and leaves you till the end where it finishes with that metallic flavour again with a slight bitterness. Average ale.
