SilkTork (4691) - Rochester, Kent, United Kingdom, WALES - MAR 24, 2003
Famous Burton beer - brewed since 1876. During the 1960's it was advertised heavily by Ind Coope, especially on TV, with the jingle: "A Double Diamond works wonders, works wonders, works wonders. A Double Diamond works wonders, so drink some today!" Anyone over the age of 50 would have fond memories of this. Sadly this stuff is dreadful these days. Killed and kegged and given a little smooth fizz. Avoid.

Pours (from a widget can) the Guinness type cascade, which finishes a medium orange colour with a decent sized creamy white head. Spicy hop aroma. Flavour is mostly bitter, with none of the spiciness that the aroma hints at. Watery and thin mouthfeel.

Boystout (1000) - Chisinau, MOLDOVA - FEB 27, 2003
Standard and commercial: nothing common with ordinary fine British ales. Poor head, dominating caramel character, some hops (Fuggles) - this is a "one-try" beer.

On draught at Mac's Cafe in Columbus. Amber color with a thin off-white head. Mild malt aroma. Very smooth and boring flavor, nothing at all stands out. Thin and somewhat creamy finish. While not offensive, I won't bother getting this again.

Mmmmm. Very nice. Had this on tap at Eli Cannon's in Middletown, CT on Feb 16th. Sweet and mild flavor, with a wonderful fruity estery flavor. Mild hops, wonderful balance. I've heard that this beer isn't what it used to be. If this is the bad version, I'd love to try it when it was "good". I'd take this over a belgian or hop water any day. Trendiness be damned.

somewhat creamy, but mostly an average ale with no real standouts, not bad, just boring

Aurelius (3077) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - JAN 28, 2003
On tap. Lots of pear tones in the aroma and flavor. Front palate was bitter. The English hopping struck me as a little odd. Dry, woody and a little on the watery side -- could have done with more carbonation perhaps. Needed to be a little maltier to get a good balance and palate. Long astringent finish. Drinkable, but I was a little disappointed.

Basic British ale.Nice hops, some malt flavours. Maybe it would be better on tap? I had mine in a bottle.
