Clusters were the dominant hop in the US brewing industry literally for centuries, and the forerunner of many of our modern Northwest varieties. They have a unique aroma with quite a bit of citrus and a heft of herbal goodness. Clusterf#ck features Clusters in the kettle, in the hop back, and especially in the fermenter for dry-hopping. Pilsner and honey malt form the baseline. This year’s version is a bit stronger and hoppier than last year’s... cheers to that!

Haze, flat, light amber. Spicy hop nose, mellow c hop taste. So much promise on the nose, then bland. Cluster isn’t exactly the best "single" hop, which probably explains the mixed results here.

It pours clear copper with a white head. The aroma is fairly mellow, but nice. It has a medium body with mild carbonation. The taste is fairly understated with caramel malt and smooth herbal hops. Good though.

500ml bottle pours a clear golden color with a finger and a half of white head that leaves some spotted lacing on the glass. Aroma is citrus with some pine and herbal notes. Taste is a light malty sweetness with a more pronounced hop bitterness featuring citrus, pine and herbal notes. Light to medium bodied with good carbonation. Overall, a nicely crafted IPA that is worth checking out. Recommended.

Draft pour at brewery, light golden pour hop aroma, pretty balanced flavor malt hops and citrus hint of mango.

Visual: Pours translucent muddy amber with a tiny dissipating head, thin half island retention, partial lacing, mixed tight and loose singular streams. Nose: pineapple, fishy-grassy hops. (lvl-4)-pungency Attack: crisp-almost creamy Mid-palate: fine micro CO2, pineapple-peach dry bitter hops, (lvl-3-sweetness), fleshy apple, citrusy-tangy barley malt Finish: lingering medium-sharp hoppy bitter finish. Summary: A solid, quality texture with smooth transitions and an agreeable flavours. Not overly bitter, it maintains a very nice balance of citrus-sweet malt-bitter hops-crisp creamy mouthfeel.

I smell weed. I feel like i am getting high off the aroma. Resin. Bong water. Appearance is cloudy. Gold color. Thin head that receeds to a white collar. Spotty lacing. Dank. Starts with a bit of hoppy goodness and finishes watery. Thin texture. Average carbonation. Orange zest. Very easy drinking. Scary for the percentage. Weird but i can taste peppered roast beef. Good beer but could not get over the strong weed aroma.

Single hops IPAs can be hit or miss. This one mostly hits though a few weak spots set it back. However if you aren’t chasing the latest and greatest hop varietal for that "Extreme Bitter Experience" then it manages to get the job done as well as any other beer made with Cluster hops.

Aroma / Appearance - A hazy lemon body supports fresh white head. Floral notes accented by pine and citrus demonstrate that you do not always need to be super complex to be enjoyable.

Flavor / Palate - Lemon pledge and resin gathered from a weeping cut in a tree blend bitterness with malts. The overall impression might not provide the "wow factor" that some people expect in their beer but it gets the job done. The only thing that keeps me preferring Killer Red is that I prefer lower ABV beers if there will not be a huge hop bill. Keep that in mind and you might enjoy this experiment.

500 ml bottle- Pours hazy straw golden with a nice white head. Aroma is floral, fruity, citrus, ale, pine resin, lemon. The taste is very lemony, pine resin, sticky and refreshing. Bubbly mouthfeel, medium body. Interesting IPA, enjoyed it.
