COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Clusters were the dominant hop in the US brewing industry literally for centuries, and the forerunner of many of our modern Northwest varieties. They have a unique aroma with quite a bit of citrus and a heft of herbal goodness. Clusterf#ck features Clusters in the kettle, in the hop back, and especially in the fermenter for dry-hopping. Pilsner and honey malt form the baseline. This year’s version is a bit stronger and hoppier than last year’s... cheers to that!

Citrusy and piney hops. A little sweet leaning, but bitter enough to notice too. I like the pils malt, but still a little heavy for my taste.

On tap at bier thirty. Pours out a golden topped with a small head. Nose is citrus pine hops and some sweetness. Taste is more of the hop combo citrus and pine with a good malt bill.

500 ml bottle. Pours a hazy gold with light head and some floating sediment. Aromas of candied citrus, tropical fruit and toasted malts. Flavors of pine/spruce and bitter citrus peel with a late bitter vegetable note. Nice experiment using the older hops but I think I’ll avoid in the future.

A light sweet malty body well balanced against piney citrus hop profile, lighter on the bitterness but pleasant.

Bottle. Deep golden color with ivory sheen. Earthy, dank, citrusy hop aromas with some malt sweetness. Light bodied with average carbonation. Big spicy, earthy, herbal, citrusy hoppy flavors with a dusty pale malt base brew___nicely drying finish---very tasty.

Bottle pour. Pours a yellowish gold. Lightly bitter, not very hoppy, mildly sweet and OK balance. Meh.

Bottle at PIB, pours a cloudy golden blonde with a small white head. Aroma brings out citrus zest, piney hops, and hay. Flavour is very dry, with notes of biscuity and crackery malt, and dry floral hops that linger on. Very dry and crackery. Not the most interesting IPA, but well-enough made. Decent.

2014-07-27, bottle from Kitsilano Liquor, Vancouver, 7-4-7-3-14=35
Cloudy golden color. Slick IPA, well drinkable, with simple but easy-drinkable malt profile; the hop is not bright, but it has a herbaceous, grassy touch.
I enjoyed it more that when I had it on draught.

2014-07-25, draught at Alibi Room, Vancouver, 6-3-6-3-12=30
Cloudy golden color with compact head. Very light fruity aroma, apricot, some yeast. Good body structure, lean mouthfeel; the malt flavor is a bit dusty, the hops are not bright, it has strong bitterness.
Rather boring IPA.

On tap @ Provisions Market. Clear golden-orange pour with a white head. Rather lemony aroma to this. Sort of woody as well. Some pale malts, melon, and Sauvignon blanc. Not bad. Flavor has a bit too much grainy sweetness for my liking. There is, though, a really nice fruit character from the hops. Lots of melon, lemon, and white grape. Moderate bitterness and a slight herbal note.

Cloudy yellow gold pour nice tight head. Aroma of sprite, cat pee berries. Tastes planty, herbal, resin, weed some bready yeast. nutty. moderate bitter some drying to finish.
