The Devil’s Kriek employed a Flanders Red Ale base prior to the addition of 200 lbs of Bing Cherries from Matt’s orchard in Duke Valley. The Devil’s Kriek developed a classic Brett character typical of beers in the style and used a mixture of three yeast strains to complete it’s mission to provide complexity.

Pours a murky ruby with little to no head. Aromas is sour cherries and some slight funk. Mostly sour tho. Flavors of dry sour cherry, very tart with more barnyard funk notes. Slight hints of pithy citrus too. Pretty good sour. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottles dropped most of the usual haunts around town, prices vary from $14 to a high of $18 Pours with only a thin collar ... the brew is a deep dark red.. sorta like a sorta turbid red wine... The nose just screams sweet cherries... only a lite funk to let you know this isn’t "just a fruit beer". Flavor shows the obvious cherries... very nice abundant fruit... not really "acetic", but there are traces of minor vinegar that makes it pretty interesting.. the "funk" is sorta a dry dusty brett character that seems to get pummeled by the cherries.... Body was heavier than expected with a lite carbonation..

On draught at Roscoe’s for the Sour Beer Summit. Dark reddish color. Aroma is pie cherries, cinnamon, and basement funk. Taste is reminiscent of apple pie and spiced cider, with some funky yeast notes. Finishes with a tart kick.

Poured a burnt orange hue with almost no head. Aroma was light sour cherries with light woody notes. Nice balance of sweet and tart but I was hoping for a bit more funk. If someone else opened one up I definitely would drink more but probably the last one I’ll buy at the price point, although I did enjoy this one.

On tap at PIB, pours a cloudy blonde with a small white head. Nose brings out fuzzy citrus fruits and some moderate wild yeast. Flavour is wild and complex, with some brett-like wild yeast, with probably some other wild yeasts, some feint cherries, and citrus zest. Complex and refined, and very drinkable. Very good wild ale.

Poured from a 375mL bottle, vintage 2012 bottled on 01/15/2014. Aroma is fairly funky with quite a nice barnyard character to it. Moderately strong cherry character with moderate acidity. Light acetic note. Pours a fairly clear, bright ruby red with a slight orange hue and a moderately sized, fairly thin and frothy, slightly pink head that recedes quickly to the edges. Flavor is fairly tart with quite a bit of tart cherry character. Medium light barnyard funk with light tropical fruit character. Hints of citrus and acetic acid. Faint hint of a buttery character. Mouthfeel is medium light bodied with medium high carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, a pretty nice American "kriek." Lots of cherry notes with decent acidic and Brett complexity. The acidity is definitely strong though.
