The Devil’s Kriek employed a Flanders Red Ale base prior to the addition of 200 lbs of Bing Cherries from Matt’s orchard in Duke Valley. The Devil’s Kriek developed a classic Brett character typical of beers in the style and used a mixture of three yeast strains to complete it’s mission to provide complexity.

Tried on tap at Belmont Station for Puckerfest. It pours a deep red, almost burgundy in color with no head on the color. Nose is predominately vinegar with some black cherry pit character. Flavor is much less focused on the vinegar and more on the cherry. There are some port notes as well. Acetic, moderate mouthfeel, and a long finish. Decent Kriek, not mind blowing but it was awesome being able to try it.

bottle shared by mathieuc, thanks bro! pours hazy bright red with a small bubbly off-white cap showing minimal retention and lacing. very cheesy, citric cherries - never puckering, rosé sparkling wine-ish, lots of fresh grass, some candies, dusty and very chalky, woodsy - hint of vanilla, light to medium acidity - few welcoming acetic notes, along lactic and citric mostly. average to light carbonation, light body - surprisingly light and drinkable for its abv, tart and almost dry grassy finish. not really a flanders red but it a nicely crafted fruit sour.

Bottle from nate321, thanks! Pours a murky red with no head and lacing. Nose is of cherries, smelly socks, alcohol and slight oxidation. Taste is of cherry juice, moderately acidic and alcohol doesn’t show too much but still dries it out. Body is light to medium, carbonation medium-high and mouthfeel vinous. Overall a good one but it could be a little better?

Bottle (12.7oz $17): Red color with small off white head. Smell cherries and some funkieness. Tasted sour cherries. For me this was a great Thanksgiving dinner beer, but the price will probably limit me to very special occasions.

375 ml bottle, 2013 vintage- Pours slightly hazy reddish orange with a crackly off white head that reduces immediately leaving a thin collar. Aroma is tart cherries, barnyard funk, brett, cherry crust. The taste is basically the same, more tart than cherry pie, cherry flavored Kool-Aid. Not bad.
