2.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle to tulip glass. I think this must have been waaaay past it’s prime, if I ever get a chance to score a fresh one I will re-rate. Pours golden cloudy orangey with a lot foamy white head. Munich malts on the nose, no hop presence whatsoever, this smelled like a run of the mill APA. Taste was more of the same, this has to be long past it’s time of goodness. Bitterness is quite low, the malt presence is pretty much all I’m tasting. Based on all the other characteristics of this beer you can tell its well made, the mouthfeel and carbonation are both very pleasing and again probably quite nice when fresh. This came across the country in a car and was one of the last beers I got after. Better luck next time methinks!

2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Bottle. See my reviews for Gypsy Stumper and Fa La La La that immediately precede this one. I felt much the same about this brew, overly sweet, poor use of hops, unpleasant bitterness. Of the three, this was also the most watery.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Interesting whatever thing here - instant impressions and mind tricks telling me this is a pilsner. Grainy, slight must, loaf, tangerine, light honey, weak pine. My hand is fairly infected with dozens of wild rose bush thorns that I keep forgetting to take out - I kinda figure that the body will just push them out sooner or later and I kind of want that satisfaction but this shit better start asap. The taste is pretty satisfying yet not quite what I was hoping for. Heavy on the citrus and seriously bitter, this is a goddamn light beer. Grains, acidic backbone, Sweet tasting bread, pineapple, some other things. Doesn’t hold my hoity toity attention span.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
500 ml bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 9/8/2015. Pours lightly hazy/cloudy golden orange color with a 2 finger dense and rocky off white head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice dense soapy lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of big grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, lemon zest, orange peel, citrus rind, pine, light honey, toasted bread, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of bright citrus/piney hops and moderate bready malt notes; with good strength. Taste of big grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, lemon zest, orange peel, citrus rind, pine, light honey, toasted bread, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Good amount of pine/citrus rind bitterness after the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, lemon/orange zest, citrus rind, pine, light honey, toasted bread, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of bright citrus/piney hops and moderate bready malt flavors; with a nice malt/bitterness balance and zero astringent hop flavors after the finish. Good amount of dryness from bitterness as well. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately sticky/resinous, and lightly creamy/bready balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very nice IPA. All around good complexity, robustness, and balance of bright citrus/piney hops and moderate bready malt flavors; and very smooth and easy to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

8th December 2015
Hazy gold beer, good pale cream colour head. Palate is smooth with modest fine carbonation. Airy pale malts, a little creamy sweetness. Mild orange and a little orange peel. Very mild hop spice. Light finish. Lacks sufficient hop wallop but it’s okay.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
500 ml bottle
Third in the flight, this release promised a bit more than it delivered. Even so if I’d picked up a bottle to take home I would not have been too disappointed depending on the price. If higher gravity IPAs are your thing or you like supporting the Oregon craft beer industry pick up a bottle. Otherwise find something similar from your friendly local brewpub.
Aroma / Appearance - A semitransparent mandarin base circles beneath offwhite head. Resin, grass, and fresh hop textures float upwards with a lazy focus.
Flavor / Palate - Malt and citrus leave an assertive opening presence that sets the tone for the rest of the experience. Vibrant rosy notes sweep to a balanced finish that feels well done but doesn’t inspire a strong reaction one way or the other. Overall this well done IPA gets the job done while blending into a dense crowd.
