3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Very pilsnery nose. Unique for an ipa, not too much too my liking. Grass and light citrus and a shit ton of bread. Golden pour, no head but nice lace. The flavor is dry and bready, floral, grassy, and a hint of citrus. Light lingering bread, grass, and floral hops. Really bizarre ipa. Drinks nicely however.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
500mL bottle. Pours amber with a white head. Citrus, tropical fruit, pine. At first all I got was bitterness but it mellowed out and became more drinkable. Pretty tasty.

This golden beer has a very nice citrus and pine aroma. It hits your tongue hard with a hoppy bite but mellows out quite quickly.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
On cask at Belmont. I’m a sucker for casks. Pours a hazy copper color with a medium white head. The aroma is light Pils malt and big oranges. The flavor certainly shines with fruity citrus hops, some base Munich shows along with lingering medium bitterness. Quite good.

What a joy to finally have this brewery in bottles. My first experience seeing them in Hood River seems like 5 years back, now. Opening my first bar 3 years back, they were high on the list for my tap handles. As I only featured one brewery at a time. Hop Lava is molten gold!

Draught. Pours hazy gold eith great head and lace. Aroma is light tropical fruit, soft pine and white bread all very fresh. Flavor is classic fresh grapefruit, pale Malay sweetness, pine bitter finish. Feel is full, lively, clean, very fresh. This grew on me. Classic, simple, well done.

On tap @ Provisions Market. Golden pour with a white head. Nice grapefruit zest and pine on the nose. A bit of orange and tangerine. Decent amount of bread and dough, too. Slightly sweet doughy malt flavor, bread, and some bitterness. Pine, grapefruit, and tangerine flavors as well. Slight grassiness on the finish.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
500 ml bottle. Pours a translucent copper color with a big sudsy white head that has very good retention. The aroma is mild with corn, roasted grains, and a hint of musty citrus. The taste is dominated by the barley with spicy hops trying desperately to assert themselves. The palate was a bit thin and the carbonation was soft. Finishes medium in duration and astringent. Overall: meh

2 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 9/20
Usually this brewery makes decent stuff, but this is very poor. Sulphury nose and unblended palate indicate this is likely a very old bottle....

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Purchased at Metro Liquor at University Heights. Pours a lasting frothy white head atop a clear golden body. Nose is biscuit. Very odd, hops and Mulich malt. Somewhat clashing. Not to my liking.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
50cl bottle pours with a nearly clear copper body that has golden hues and supports a nice looking light tan head of foam. The modest aroma offers up bread dough, crackers, lime, an earthy lemon grass sort of note and sweet malts. The aroma has the hops taking a back seat to the maltiness. The taste delivers sweet mango flavored cotton candy and sweet lime hard candy sliding into doughy biscuit like malts. The hops get more resiny to midway and into the finish where the malts turn in the direction of graininess. Pretty interesting somewhat malty take on the style.
