COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The “IRA”, as it’s known around here, marries a ruby red color and rich body with the hop flavors of an IPA. Our unique ale yeast strain adds a delicious layer of complexity. One of the first beers we made, and an enduring favorite. Brewed with Gambrinus Organic Pilsner malt, imported crystal malt, Simcoe and Brewers’ Gold hops. 6.8% ABV, 55 BU

Deep ruddy pour with a thick white head. The nose is quite hoppy. Rich sweet malt but it’s not cloying at all. A bit of resin and pine with a nice sticky resinous finish. Iced tea and a bit of sweet caramel which I normally hate but here it kind of works. Assertive bitterness.

Tap at the brewpub september 2012-pours bright copper hue with a small eggshell white head. nose of pine resin and cleaner with some sweet carmel backbone. flavors follow suit-lots of pine and caramel sweetness to balance this one out. some nice leafy hop notes come in during the finish. a different take on an ipa, more like they say, an IRA. Cool brew!

On Cask at The Pine Box, Seattle. Dark, bright red, foamy greay head. Sweet, rosy hops. Great warming hops on a red ale. Sweet juicy body. Alright, quite nice on cask.

10oz pour, expertly recommended by bartender @ Horse Brass. Pour is caramel w/ white head and lots of lacing. Aroma is a little bit of sour, lemony hops. Flavor starts with bitter hod and progresses into malty/sour goodness. Lively carbonation. This beer has more depth than most beers I’ve ever tried... Excellent!

On tap at f-stop. Big hoppy red with some IPA bitterness mixed in. Finish is malty with a weird after taste.

Red tinted amber. Malty nose with a good helping of caramel. Balanced on the palate showing some sweeter malts, with reasonably subdued hops on the finish. Very nice.

On draft at Belmont Inn...thanks to Tim for this one. Excellent balance of hops in nose and taste...with a malty body for smoothness....very well done; wish we could get this in Illinois.

Draft at ncbc. Pours a cloudy amber with a dense creamy tan head. Big tangy grapefruit nose. Creamy medium body with lively carb. Toast and caramel mid palate. Mild tangy finish.

Copper reddish color with a thick, foamy head. Complex hop and malt aroma. A bit of a caramel flavor? Very smooth and slightly sweet mixed with some nice hops bitterness. This is a very good beer.

Sampled from a day-old growler brought back from Oregon by my buddy John. Citrus orange/lemony hop aroma. Somewhat mild, though, without too much else happening. Moderately hazy amber body with a frothy, yellowish head present. Super citrus lemon hoppiness to start. Has a nice chewiness with some caramel malts in the middle. Finishes with mildly spicy, herbal , and lightly bitter finish. Very drinkable stuff. Nice.
