The “IRA”, as it’s known around here, marries a ruby red color and rich body with the hop flavors of an IPA. Our unique ale yeast strain adds a delicious layer of complexity. One of the first beers we made, and an enduring favorite. Brewed with Gambrinus Organic Pilsner malt, imported crystal malt, Simcoe and Brewers’ Gold hops. 6.5% ABV, 60 BU

Very deep red color and sweet citrus aroma. This beer has a bit of bitterness but is well balanced by a strong malt flavor. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap @ Provisions Market. Amber/copper pour with a soapy off-white head. Aroma is huge pine and resin hop aromas. Caramel malt, grapefruit peel, and a bit of woody herbs. Nice. Flavor is a bit sweet up front with a strong bitterness to follow. Tons of pine, wood, herb, and resin character. Moderate grapefruit and some sweet caramel.

50cl bottle pours with a clear copper body that supports an inch tall light tan head of foam. The aroma has sweet sugary malts and some various light maltiness such as Pilsner, Caramunich and maybe others. I’m getting basically zero hops in the nose. Way at the end of a deep draw is a faint sweet fruitiness. The taste starts soft briefly with sweet malts, a bit of grainy malts, some Pilsner malts and then crumbs of biscuit like maltiness. The hops hit a moment later and seem to lean toward bitter Noble like hops as well as some pine, a light floral hoppiness, then a bit citrusy and spicy too. OK, all kinds of hops seem to come through in the taste. Interesting.

500 ml bottle. Pours a mahogany color with full foamy head. Aromas of resin-y pine, oranges, and brown sugar. Somewhat light, but nice and not overly hoppy. Flavors of pink grapefruit, toasted malts, and a hint of floral. Easy to drink

Poured at a good temperature with a huge, foamy, frothy, fluffy, cream- to light tan-colored head that settled slowly and plenty of lace. Color is a hazy moderately deep amber. Aroma is hop, resin, hint citrus, then malt, grain, toffee. Flavor’s like nose, Hop flavor and bitter up front, then some tang and finally a bit of sweet. Body is decent; carbonation good. Finish is like flavor but has some medicinal and smidgen metallic.

Tap. Tastes better than it looks or smells. Somewhat sour and somewhat hoppy. Straddles multiple categories. Pleasant enough.

Bottle from Malt & Vine. Pours clear copper with a foamy 3 finger beige head. Aroma is malty/yeasty. Med + body. Flavor is roasty malt with some earthy and, perhaps, citrus hop. It’s hoppy enough to be tasty, and it’s bitter enough to not be a typical amber. But it’s malty enough to fall into the amber category. Drinks ok tho.

Up the RA. OK, funny name. 500 ml bottle. Pours a mostly clear copper color with a large off-white head. A light nose of Pils malt and some caramel. Smooth caramel, light fruit, earthy, some toffee. A smooth easygoing brew. More of an amber ale. Beidh lá eile ag an bPaorach!

Draught at the brewery in Hood River. Light roastiness and smooth hop nose. Light hazy reddish color. Rich citrus initial / toasty malt in mid, along with some dirt notes, and then balance in mid / turns slowly in the finish, gets smoother, and leaves good bitter traces. Medium body. Quite flavorful. The "red" character is not so evident. But very pleasant overall.
