The “IRA”, as it’s known around here, marries a ruby red color and rich body with the hop flavors of an IPA. Our unique ale yeast strain adds a delicious layer of complexity. One of the first beers we made, and an enduring favorite. Brewed with Gambrinus Organic Pilsner malt, imported crystal malt, Simcoe and Brewers’ Gold hops. 6.5% ABV, 60 BU

Visually, this ale is very interesting. It has a nice hazy dark orange color with a thick creamy off white head. The aroma is a bit cereal and a little ammonia. Medium body= the malts are nice but then outdone by bitterness. The hops are somewhat stale & outshined by the bitterness as well, but they are a moderate grassy tone. Not exceptional, malts in a cascadian dark ale balance the hops better. 8.19 BD

Very similar to Ninkasi's Believer Double Red (although a little less malty) this beer features some nice toasty malt with a hop profile similar to an ipa. A great hybrid style that keeps things interesting. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

500ml bottle from Trader Joes in Salem. $3.79 Amber coloured body, slight haze, with a nice sized bubbly white head. Spicy semi sweet maltiness with a slight but obvious resinous hop. Taste is very balanced..between the toffee flvoured malts and the resinous/spicy hop. Nice Good mouthfeel low carbonation and great after tastes. A good beer..but i have this IMO as an amber ale!

Can’t believe I haven’t rated this before. Now that I have had a few to compare, this latest taste from their cool returnable bottles seems lighter than past efforts. More floral and fruity while still holding onto a medium hop kick.

On tap. Pours a deep, dark red with wisps of foam. Sprucey hops over a slightly spicy caramel malt backbone. Well balanced, rich and smooth. Long, bitter aftertaste. Solid.

Deep ruddy pour with a thick white head. The nose is quite hoppy. Rich sweet malt but it’s not cloying at all. A bit of resin and pine with a nice sticky resinous finish. Iced tea and a bit of sweet caramel which I normally hate but here it kind of works. Assertive bitterness.

Tap at the brewpub september 2012-pours bright copper hue with a small eggshell white head. nose of pine resin and cleaner with some sweet carmel backbone. flavors follow suit-lots of pine and caramel sweetness to balance this one out. some nice leafy hop notes come in during the finish. a different take on an ipa, more like they say, an IRA. Cool brew!

On Cask at The Pine Box, Seattle. Dark, bright red, foamy greay head. Sweet, rosy hops. Great warming hops on a red ale. Sweet juicy body. Alright, quite nice on cask.
