Draft at the taproom. I’m not sure I’m reviewing the correct beer, they told me that I was drinking the Oak-aged version and previously there had been a non-oak-aged version, but the last review mentions the oak!
Aroma was dark sweet molasses candy, the pour was a dark brownish red with s medium tan head. The flavor was very sweet, but not overly so, complex yeast, malt, alcohol, very good. The mouthfeel was silky. The oak was definitely present with a little bite added, I don’t know if I could have had much of the non-oaked version.

UPDATED: SEP 30, 2009 Tap @ their taproom... Poured hazy burgundy with a white head. Aroma of esters and berries that was very earthy and well spiced. Light, fizzy palate. Very drinkable for the high abv. Fruits and spiced notes with tangy brown sugar and yeast flavors that played off of the malted grains.

Aroma: Dark malt sweet with a good Belgian yeast aroma.
Appearance: Brown in color, Clear with a thin head.
Flavor: Dark Malty sweet this was a big beer. Tons of alcohol, malt and sweet Belgian yeast flavor. The oak was present also.
Palate: Dry Belgian sweet finish, with a Good Mouthfeel.
Overall: This was a very nice beer. Liked the sweetness from the Belgian yeast as it added to the oak aging.

On tap at Double Mountain in Hood River. I’m not sure this is the correct spelling, but it is what they had. color was amberish. Aroma of sweet Belgian malt, fruit and sugar. Flavor was very sugary with sweet malt and yeast. Tasted like an amped up version of the Ardennes with a touch of alcohol. Good stuff.
