COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In Cologne, Germany, many a brewery produces a light-bodied ale with a delicate fruitiness and rounded maltiness, attributable to the unique yeast strain commonly used. Our Kölsch is unfiltered and more generously hopped than its German cousin. Brewed with Gambrinus Organic Pilsner and Munich malt and Perle hops. 5.2% ABV, 40 BU

Pours a lovely fairly hazy golden. Aroma is sweet malts and a hint of grass. Flavor is quite on the dot of the style with a great grassy body and a bit of a hopped up finish. A bit wet over all on the malts, but it adds character. I would drink this all summer if I could get it down here in NorCal!

Bottle. Pours hazy pale-orange with a short head. Decent retention and lace. A hoppy version of the style which, when paired with the yeast and malt, leaves a hint of unpleasantness on the nose. Light body, average carb, prickly hop texture, and a light bitter, crisp finish.

Draft at NCBC. Pours a crystal clear medium gold with a loose white head. Light drippy lace. Mild toasty corn nutty nose. Creamy medium body with soft carb. Corn nuts give way to a slight metallic twinge but it’s way in the background. Mild finish.

Haven’t found a kolsch that I love other than this one. And you can’t beat the brewery! Go here, thank me later.
