COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In Cologne, Germany, many a brewery produces a light-bodied ale with a delicate fruitiness and rounded maltiness, attributable to the unique yeast strain commonly used. Our Kölsch is unfiltered and more generously hopped than its German cousin. Brewed with Gambrinus Organic Pilsner and Munich malt and Perle hops. 5.2% ABV, 40 BU

Awesome kolsch! Brewers in Cologne would be proud to have this. One of the best American kolschs I’ve tried. Light and bready, lots of pale malt, biscuits, crackers. Tall airy head (poured into my Fruh stange), Pale golden and effervescent. Right from the first sniff I knew this was going to be good.

500ml bottle pours a hazy light straw color with a generous white head that retains well and leaves some spotted lacing on the glass. Aroma is grainy and grassy. Taste is a spicy and grassy hop bitterness with a grainy malty sweetness which finishes quite dry on the palate. Light bodied with good carbonation. A decent pilsnener style beer that is a little better than your typical macro lager.

500 ml bottle. Mostly clear pale yellow, lasting creamy white foam. Muted grainy malty aroma. Taste is lagery malty, stale cereal, faint citric fruitiness, mild dull floral herbal hop. Average carbonation, light bodied, lightly hopped. Forgettable. MLF (More Lagerboy Friendly)

Nice pour but then quickly dissipating head with little retention. Primarily biscuity nose and flavor with some banana flavors. Likely refreshing in the summer but nothing special beyond that.

This is a great refreshing summer beer but with the extra hop, I would say the taste is more reminiscent of a Pilsner than a Kolsch. Overall, I will have this again.

On tap at Imperial - poured a cloudy gold with a rocky white head. First aroma I got was sulfur and yeast with a bit of fruitiness. The Perle hops are well showcased and almost a little tart which is nice for pairing most food. The carbonation was nice and lively and the finish was dry. My biggest gripe with DM’s Kolsch is the drinkability. For this style it should be crisp, clean, and chuggable.

Draught at Alibi Room, Vancouver
Muddy blond color with small head. Light grassy aroma, with light cereals. Smooth mouthfeel; some cereals flavor, not exactly breadish, with hints of grassy hops, correct bitterness, some final astringency.
Too dirty to be in-style, but not too bad either.

Bottle. Pours cloudy golden, white head. Nose is sulphur, sweet malt, floral hops. Flavour is sulphur and sweet malt, crackery. The sulphur/cracker combination is interesting but not particularly quaffable.

Picked up at Brewforia Meridian last week for a very pricey $5... But well made. Pours a slightly hazed straw golden below a 1 finger stark white head that sticks around for a while and leaves good lacing. Nose is pretty traditional... light pale maltiness ... slight bigger than standard grassy hoppiness.. Light fruitiness and a touch of sulfur. Fairly dry throughout the palate, but there is enough residual maltiness to bring out a minerally/sulfur quality and accentuate a bigger than expected bitterness.. a little malt sweetness shows on the finish with warmth... hops are sorta spicy/grassy, but overall pretty light. Body is light with a good carbonation.... very drinkable... I would buy this again if it wasn’t so damn expensive.
