Not the best Kolsch ever, but it was a nice change of pace for the evening.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
500ml bottle, with a cloudy honey gold hue, and a big Rocky, bubbly pillowy white head. Nice pineapple, pear, apple, blood orange fruity esters from the yeast used. With a good floral tropical fruit, leafy, citrus hop, lemon pie crust accent, and a bread dough, faint grainy pilsener, pale, toasted malt, faint apple sauce, subtle spicy note in the aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a fruity, doughy, citrusy, bready yeast, subtle wheaty, faint honeyed pale, pilsener, toasted, munich malt character, with some pineapple, pear, citrus, apple skin, apple sauce, lemon pie crust, mild flowery citrusy, leafy hop, faint citrus tea leaf, subtle spicy lemongrass, lemon bread flavours leading towards a fruity dough yeastiness, lemon pie, crunchy bread, wheat, pale, pilsener maltiness, lingering grassy, citrus hop bitterness finish. Not your typical kolsch beer, but nevertheless a fruity, yeasty one.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Awesome kolsch! Brewers in Cologne would be proud to have this. One of the best American kolschs I’ve tried. Light and bready, lots of pale malt, biscuits, crackers. Tall airy head (poured into my Fruh stange), Pale golden and effervescent. Right from the first sniff I knew this was going to be good.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
500ml bottle pours a hazy light straw color with a generous white head that retains well and leaves some spotted lacing on the glass. Aroma is grainy and grassy. Taste is a spicy and grassy hop bitterness with a grainy malty sweetness which finishes quite dry on the palate. Light bodied with good carbonation. A decent pilsnener style beer that is a little better than your typical macro lager.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
500 ml bottle. Mostly clear pale yellow, lasting creamy white foam. Muted grainy malty aroma. Taste is lagery malty, stale cereal, faint citric fruitiness, mild dull floral herbal hop. Average carbonation, light bodied, lightly hopped. Forgettable. MLF (More Lagerboy Friendly)

2.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Nice pour but then quickly dissipating head with little retention. Primarily biscuity nose and flavor with some banana flavors. Likely refreshing in the summer but nothing special beyond that.

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
This is a great refreshing summer beer but with the extra hop, I would say the taste is more reminiscent of a Pilsner than a Kolsch. Overall, I will have this again.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 16/20
On tap at Imperial - poured a cloudy gold with a rocky white head. First aroma I got was sulfur and yeast with a bit of fruitiness. The Perle hops are well showcased and almost a little tart which is nice for pairing most food. The carbonation was nice and lively and the finish was dry. My biggest gripe with DM’s Kolsch is the drinkability. For this style it should be crisp, clean, and chuggable.
