Double India Brown Rye
Another installment from the twisted minds of our intrepid brew staff, two of whom have been on the rack with sports-related injuries. This big old tasty hybrid of a beer features unique minty notes from the rye malt, rich chocolatey character from roasted malts, and an onslaught of hop aroma delivered by a pound of dry hops for every keg. Big, bold and injury-prone.

On tap @ The Yard for Double Mountain night. Pours reddish brown with thin head. Aroma is rye, oak, hops, and a hint of grassy mint. Taste is crisp rye malts, tangy bitter hops, and fresh earthiness. A bit harsh, but nice.

Big beer and tons of malt and nice hops backing and flavor. This was a very tasty good beer.

On tap at Double Mountain (July 2012). Colour...cloudy amber with an off white head. Nose...intensely hoppy with plenty of rye and a sugar sirop aspect as well. Palate...a BIG burst of hops! Man the IBUs on this must be high! Next comes the rye which seems to temper the hoppiness and a sweetness that does the same. There’s lots of candied pit fruits here as well that are reminiscent of Cotlets. This is a damn fine chewy beer!
