COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In keeping with our vow to (almost) never make the same dark beer twice, here comes our latest, “Standard Porter”. It’s is a dark-chocolately-brown-colored brew of medium heft, featuring bittersweet-cocoa notes, restrained fruitiness, and a refreshing touch of acidity, courtesy of black malt. The finish is dry and crisp, with a subtle persuasion that says, “hey, c’mon, take at least one more sip. You know you want it.” 5.5% alcohol by volume, 36 BU.

On tap at Baileys. This was one of the first Double Mountain beers I’ve been disappointed with. Pours red/brown, with a fast falling light beige head. Very light roast, mild hint of chocolate and caramel. Just a bit bland and underwhelming overall, like a classic English porter, a bit more roastiness and body would go a long way.

On tap at Concordia Ale House. Pours a light brown with a reddish hue and a quickly dissipating tan head. Everything is in minor portions here: chocolate, roastiness, caramel, the slightest hint of coffee. Unfortunately none of it adds up to a coherent whole and it leaves you wanting more.

Tap @ Their Taproom... Poured deep, murky brown (not quite black) with a light brown head that faded into some nice lacing. Roasted malt on the nose. Thick, foamy palate with a lot of dryness. Chalky and some bitter hop flavors up front before the lingering malt went through to the finish. Not very standout-ish as a porter or a Double Mountain brew.
