hayduke (2531) - Eureka, USA - NOV 16, 2011
This was shared with Strykzone via Facebook Chat. Clear amber pour with an off-white head and light lacing. Nose of caramel malts with grassy hops and a touch of cinnamon spice. Medium body. Mouthfeel average. Flavor was floral hops on top of a lot of malt. Actually pretty decent.

Stolen from my dear room mate: Pours a light amber with a small head. Aroma is light caramel malts and not much more. Taste is slightly sweet, but mostly just kind of bland. Is this drinkable? For sure. Is it interesting? No, no it is not. Is it cheap? Yes, yes it is.

This is something along the lines of a classic American pale ale. It’s a orange amber color w/ a quickly thinning head of mixed bubbles. Hops are up front in the nose but w/ a slightly oxidized metallic malty overtone. Flavor is the same mix of sort of slightly off sweetness and moderate hopping. There is a nice toffee-ish malt backbone but there is nothing else particularly likeable about this beer. Below average for sure.

amber color, aroma of caramel, grass, citrus fruits, flavor is pretty much the same, slightly watery, easy drinking and not to pricey

Looks like Safeway is trying to phase this out, and you’ve come to this page wondering is a 5$ sixer of this brew is worth it. I say so, but certainly not worth much more. Pour vigorously into a glass only to find it has a sufficient, creamy white head. A good sign, followed by a game of trying to find the faint aroma -- not present. The mouthfeel is right on point with an Amber, and the malt bill seems pretty correct, if not underwhelming. Some hop balance, but not enough. Tastes like, in my opinion, a homebrew batch that didn’t quite turn out perfect... maybe that’s why I’m taking a shining to it. It’s perfectly sufficient and a pretty good call for 5$... but not worth a regular rotation and not worth any more of your money. Try it once -- it’s worth that much.

12 oz. bottle from Hayduke. We enjoyed it together via facebook chat. This was a gusher. It was poured into a 3Floyds glass and over half the glass filled with foam. That head was beige and sat atop a clear amber beer that had busy carbonation. The nose was light with cinnamon and grass. Grass and malt were prominent tastes. Later hops moved more to the forefront with some sulfur and fruit. This was a pleasant beer and one I could spend an evening with. Nice.

This is a great hoppy beer. Very smooth with medium head and not very sweet.

UPDATED: OCT 21, 2011 Poured from a bottle into a pilsner glass. Color was light amber. About an inch of head. Decent amount of lacing on the top. Good looking film on the sides as well. A surprisingly good smell. Had a mix of chocolate, grains and citrus. Not much like the nose. Initial taste was grain with a watery aftertaste. Pretty bland overall. Medium body. Average carbonation. Abrupt finish. Somewhat watery. I’d say the smell is the best part of this beer. I had high hopes after getting a sniff, but the taste was just too plain.

bottled, very clear amber pour with billowy light tan head, big nose of grassy hops with some dry cereal notes in back, very clean aroma, much mellower taste then expected with pleasent light toasted malts and hops at front and finish, higher then expected carbonation, clean palate with slight residual grassy hop notes, very easy drinker
