2.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
Tonight I have a 4-beer sampler of the Double Take series of beer. Starting light, here we have the Amber Ale. It smells like spilled beer on a hot day. It doesnít taste much better. Round 1: fail.

2.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
July 4th, 2014 - Evernote kindly deleted the photo I took for Double Takeís Amber Ale, so I am going into this review fairly blind, but I donít think this takes away much from what was otherwise an underwhelming beer. The nose is reasonably engaging, with a sweet, caramel overtone and some bubble gum touches, but the flavor is effectively absent. Flavorless and a light body, itís like drinking a paper towel, and does nothing to satiate the end of a long day,

Out of a cheap mixer pack. Wasent expecting much. All the beers from the pack were very bland and shared a similar cheap taste. This was the one I liked the most out of the pack though because it had a little citrus character.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
12oz bottle -
Found at Big Lots! for $7.99 a six-pack and Iím usually game to try something new and affordable, even if the style is about as exciting as watching paint dry. It wasnít quite what I was expecting, but it wasnít all that bad, considering where I bought it. A medium sweet aroma with light honey, light hop/grassy note with a touch of metallic/dirty penny smell. Flavor has a bitterness that I usually attribute to an earthy/walnut-y like bitterness, light malt profile and nothing to distract an easy quaffing beverage. A nice beer for beginners, if they want to get to know the exciting style of Amber ales.

Transfer from BA review on 6-29-13-
Poured from bottle into a pint glass
Appearance- The beer pours a caramel color with a one finger thick white head. The head fades slowly over time leaving a decent level of lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell- The aroma is bready and sweet with smells of caramel and toffee. Mixed with these smells is a little bit of citrus as well as some nut producing a rather nice smell overall.
Taste- The taste starts out with the caramel sweetness and breadiness detected in the nose with a bit of the citrus developing more toward the middle of the taste. Toward the end some flavors of nut and roasted malt come to the tongue bittering the taste ever so slightly. This mixed with an increase in the citrus end up leaving a more off and bitter flavor to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel-The body of the brew was on the lighter side in its thickness and creaminess with a carbonation level that was rather average. Both suited the brews flavors and profile rather well and made for a rather refreshing and crisper brew overall.
Overall Ė A little too bitter on the back end for an amber ale in my opinion, but nothing all that bad. Just alright I suppose.

"Malt leaning color by numbers amber ale. Carmel and bready malts. Light hopping. Not alot going on, for better or worse. Party beer on the cheap, perhaps..."

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pours from a 12 oz bottle, a clear copper with tan head. Nose is hoppy, grass, and biscuit. Taste a bit bitter with some sharp spiciness and carmel. Finish is mild pepper and hops. A nice refreshing brew.

Very little head, but nice and pillowy; light and fluffy. Nice apricot undertone, with a sugary aftertaste. Easy drinking here, and thatís what I like best.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle. For an amber style beer, not too bad. Caramel notes in the nose and taste. Some very mild bitterness in the finish and a touch dry. Medium carbonation.

2.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Reviewed from notes.
The appearance had an amber/red colored body with a one finger white foamy head that leaves a great amount of speckled spider web lacing.
The smell had a decent amount of caramel malts, lightly hopped.
The taste was mainly sweet through the malts, dry bitter aftertaste and finish.
On the palate, it sat really light, was pretty sessionable, and the carbonation is pretty smooth and decent for the style.
Overall, this was not a bad American Red ale, but it wasnít exactly anything to really seek out again either.

Bottle. Pours a very clear amber color with a small off-white head. Nose is a little bitter, like some hops in there have turned old. I can get a little caramel in there, but itís subtle. Taste is also old and a little bitter. Very little substance, and itís clearly been on the shelf too long.
