This one poured a deep amber colour with a creamy/foamy, off white head. Scents include citrus, spruce, bread and spice. First swig was quite creamy with a load of medium level of IBU’s. Flavours of spruce hops and a little caramel are most predominant. Finish is quite bitter with flavours of spruce lingering.

It’s hard to believe this is sold at a retail level. Unfiltered beer is fine but after pouring this into a glass the can remained heavy. There was a half inch of sludge at the base. The beer in the glass was cloudy and had lumps of debris at the base. Disgusting!
I tried to drink it after paying so much but couldn’t. I will NEVER buy a beer from this brewery again as their quality control is pathetic.

Nose is moderate spiced rye and hops. The balance of the nose runs through the taste profile, featuring spiced rye, east coast hops, and soft, bready caramel malt. The balanced taste lasts through the taste experience. A very nice middle of the road rye pale ale.

(Rating #6081)

Can - 473ml. Hazy copper body with a thin off-white creamy head. Decent malty/hoppy aroma with brown sugar and fruity hints. Its sharp hoppy taste carries woody, malty, and citrusy notes. Ends with a long bitter finish. Good stuff.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a dirty bronze colour with a nice white head that leaves considerable lacing behind.
Aromas are grassy hops, balanced quite nicely with sweet caramel malts.
The palate has some creaminess to the mouthfeel, with tastes of caramel, rye, vanilla on the mid swallow, and a nice bitter hop finish.
In a word this one is balanced. Incredibly so, with a wide range of aromas and tastes. One of the best kept secrets in the LCBO.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Frothy off-white head and bubbly golden amber body. Aroma is of strong roasted malts and grains mostly, but with floral highlights. Flavour is at first subdued, leading to an expanse of bitter-sweet, floral characteristics ending on a lingering, high bitter note.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Roasted cereals, spicy rye, mild caramel, piney hops, bitter finish. Not a bad rye ale but a bit overly roasted, almost like burnt grain.
