COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Douglas Celtic Brown is a real Scottish ale, rude as its country of origin, mysterious as the legends and as generous as the inhabitants.

330 ml bottle. From finestshop.be.
Clear dark reddish brown colour with big off-white fluffy head. Soy sauce, caramel, brown sugar and malt in aroma. Not bad. Flavour is alcoholic but not in the worst kind of way. Dark malt, some caramel sweetness, mild soy sauce, mild bitterness and dryish... something. Not very complex but still enjoyable Scotch Ale.

(33cl bottle, BB 30/03/12) Pours a clear amber body with a medium creamy beige head and nice lacing. Aroma of caramel, mustiness, roasted malt, and raisins. Flavor of raisins, roasted malt, caramel, and toasted grain.

(printemps 2007)

Huge, dark-beige head, over chestnut-coloured beer. (Dark) mushrooms, dark malts, brown candi sugar, bit lactic. Again burnt brown candi sugar, with a little nasty burnt-bitterish edge. No balance, but clashing with the underlying syrupy sweetness, as brown candi syrup. Human sweat warming up. Slick to syrupy, seriously carbonated feel, and in fact finishing empty. Weak, in all aspects.

(Bottled) Beautiful, deep dark red color with a smallish but firm, tanned and lacy head. Very toffee-malty, even diacetylic-buttery nose with dried fruit and some sweetness. Flavor is toffeeish, grainy malt - lots of it - with moderate residual sweetness and dried, plummy fruitiness. Medium to full body, soft and lowish CO2. A good and clean Scotch Ale, but lacks somewhat in the complexity department. 5347
