3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 imdownthepub (7491) - Banbury, - MAR 1, 2008
Cask conditioned at The Woolpack, Banbury. Amber with white head. Quite a malty, dry beer which borders on bland, but does have a touch of graininess, corn, a little tinny note. There is a light hop but it doesn’t stand out. Some fruit, but everything disappears in the mix.

Cask (gravity dispense) at GBBF, day 4 on 4 August 2006. Attractive bronze/copper colour with decent condition and a sparse white head. Distinct caramel notes in the aroma. More malty than hoppy and bitter on the palate but the balance comes off OK. Plenty of flavour and presence.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 DruncanVeasey (5150) - NUNEATON, Blue Square Prem, Warwickshire, ENGLAND - JAN 20, 2010
BC. Muddy chestnut with a slim off-white sheet. Slightly buttery caramel aroma a bit like brown ale; some discreet berries, woodland hop, vinous notes, cinder toffee as it warms. Caramel, apple and pear yeastiness, earth, hazelnut, hint of coffee. A bit dull and rough around the edges, but just about the pick of the Dowbridge three pack.

Cask at Rugby Beer Festival. Amber with a short and quickly dissipating head. Smell of bitter hops and burnt toffee. Not much taste in the mouth, sadly - just the bitter hops - and a slight metallic aftertaste. Flat. Average and disappointing.
