2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 Lubiere (6988) - Ottawa, - JUN 10, 2006
Red amber ale with a thin lacing off white head. Sweet butterscotch aroma with light herbal hops. In mouth, a sweet biscuitty malt with nice butterscotch notes, oily mouthfeel, a bit thin, but very mcuh to style. On tap, May 2006.
2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 davidpl (435) - Santiago, CHILE - MAR 5, 2008
Appearance: amber to light mahogany color. Medium and lasting head with beige color.
Aroma: intensive yeast and caramel malts smells. Light reminiscences of vanilla, toffee, sponge-cake and, maybe, honey.
Flavor: like the aroma, dominated for the caramel malts and yeast. Incipient and light infection that is hidden, partly, for the slight sourness from the hops. Maybe, some peaches and toffee reminiscences. Yeasty aftertaste.
Palate: medium body with some granule texture. Low carbonated.
In short, a basic beer.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Stine (1399) - St. Paul, Minnesota, USA - JUL 5, 2007
UPDATED: JUL 6, 2007 Bottle at Portofino Cafe, Mendoza. Rusty, reddened appeance. Red berry jam on graham cracker crust on the nose. Nips of red apple peels with acerbic, dry raspberry seeds in the mouth. Hints of chlorine, iron, cranberry nut bread. Palate is slightly sharp, alcohol is present alongside a musty expired character. Fairly heavy body comparitively. Probably better when younger.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Boutip (3459) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - JUN 28, 2006
Bottle courtesy of Lubière: Poured a deep hazy amber color ale with a huge foamy head with good retention. Aroma of caramel malt with a side of molasses. Taste is very accentuated on malt with some molasses. Body is above average with lot of lees at the bottom of the bottle. Quite impressive coming from a non-traditional brewing country such as Argentina.
