Mungo (2474), Southampton, Hampshire, England Apr 1, 2008 Cask conditioned @ Village
Freehouse, Salisbury. A darkish stout. Slightly artificial chocolate
orange flavour (what else do you expect?) which worked fairly well with
the base beer but was enough after 1/2 a pint. oh6gdx (6343), Vaasa, Finland Feb 11, 2008 Cask. Rubyish amber colour, mediumsized beige head. Aroma is chocolate, zest, nectar, some sour wood and bittery fruityness. Flavour is chocolate, fruityness, wood and some grassyness lurking the the background. Aftertaste is chocolate, grassyness and some dry, sour fruits. Jukkabro (2405), Tampere, Finland Feb 2, 2008 Dark brown red colored, little light brown head. Dark chocolate dominates this sweet aroma, some hops, still not too much else here. Thin to medium bodied, slightly watery palate for 5.8% ABV. Chocolate dominates also this flavor, aftertast turns to hopped and dry with cocoa. Dryness lasts. Interesting, though rather one-dimensional and not too balanced brew. Ethereal (927), London, Greater London, England Jan 18, 2008 Cask at the Bricklayer’s Arms, Putney, 16th Jan 08. Deep chestnut colour with a lacy head. Aroma of milk chocolate and orange. Tastes like a chocolate milkshake, but then some malt and hops struggle through. Smooth mouthfeel. Overall, it’s hard to find a technical flaw with it, but I simply can’t recommend it - because it tastes like drinking Nesquik, not beer! Svesse (1818), Hässelby, Sweden Dec 15, 2007 (Cask at Priory Arms, Stockwell, London, 30 Nov 2007) Dark brown colour with ruby notes, frothy beige head. Roasted, malty nose with distinct notes of chocolate. Roasted, malty taste with chocolate, orange peel and hints of coffee bitterness in the finish. On the sweet side. Interesting and quite nice.
