Takeaway from gravity cask @ Bitter Virtue. Fairly dark brown. Hints of toasty malt and a little fruity caramel. Well balanced with leafy hoppiness. Quite dry with a nicely bitter finish.

Cask at Wellington Arms, Bedford. Amber. Malt aroma, but quite strange: hints of cardboard, MDF and compost. Rather better than it sounds. Similar woody taste. A little bitterness. Unusual; you wouldn’t want this every day, but it’s quite interesting.

Cask (handpump) @ Anchor, Digbeth, Birmingham B5, UK. Clear medium amber color with a small, frothy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, caramel, notes of wood. Flavor is moderate sweet and moderate to heavy bitter (malt / metalic bitter) with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is flat, finish feel is light metalic. (140108)

A Mes rate: Cask at the Wenlock.
Slightly hazy copper with a slim white head. Heavy tobacco aroma with slight malt and hops but the tobacco takes centre stage. More caramel malt in the flavour initially with some pleasant wheaty notes and a lovely bitter finish. Drinks above its strength but still very sessionable.

Cask conditioned at The White Lion, Fewcott, Oxon. Amber with white head. Sweetish malty bitter with a dose of dry caramel, toffee like and not really light enough to be a session bitter. Heavy on the palate, reasonable.
