2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 Mungo (2472) - Southampton, - JUL 31, 2007
Cask conditioned @ Guide Dog, Soton. Initially fruity hop but doesnt really last well enough for me to consider it hoppy. Tasty biscuity malt but left feeling a bit sweet with the hop bitterness being a bit lacking.

Pint pulled at The Bricklayers Arms in Putney (London), dark amber with a filmy white head. A rich burnished malty aroma. A little grainy with a sweet malty aroma. A bit thin.

Dark copper in colour with a citrus hop scent. Bitter, with a slight dryness and a hint of carbonation. Difficult to get the taste, but earthy/soils and maybe some roasted nuts. Subsequent mouthfuls were sweeter. Hint of metal in the aftertaste but not bad.

Cask at Merton Summer Beer Festival 05-07-07 Had a little snifter of this on the Thursday it had settled very well. Poured a mid brown colour with small white head. Whilst there there was a definite hoppiness to this it wasn’t quite as pronounced as I had anticipated. I enjoyed this beers simplicity there was a nice soft toffeeness to it and the hops gave it a reasonable bitterness a good easy drinking beer that I would happily have a session on but how I wish I’d have got the Chimera IPA a stunning beer in my opinion.

Cask conditioned at Merton Beer Festival ’07. Chestnut colour with slight head. Darkly roasted malty beer despite the hint at hops in the name, some toffee notes and and a little vanilla. There are hops on the finish, giving a twangy dryness, its a reasonable beer.
