downender (1616), Bristol, Gloucestershire, England Jul 19, 2008 Cask-conditioned at the summer beer festival, The Royal Oak, Bath 19/7/08. Deep golden in colour with a slight, white head. Aroma of sweet malt, ginger spice and grassy hops. Flavour was dominated by stem ginger in a positive way, being very drinkable with a warming kick and some bitterness in the finish. A good summer beer.
fonefan (4884), Ulfborg, Denmark Sep 29, 2008 Cask (handpump) @ Crown Inn, Stockport, Cheshire England SK6 6JY. Clear medium yellow color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, white head. Aroma is moderate malty, grain, hay, light yeasty. Flavor is moderate sweet and light to moderate bitter with a average duration. Body is medium to light, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft to flat. (280708) wheresthepath (253), Buckinghamshire, England Aug 6, 2008 [handpump at the Hobgoblin, Reading] Beautiful bright gold with a minimal white head. Soft but slightly prickly fizz. A sour bitterness at first. A little malt and a little grass comes through. Very easy drinking, and the softness is somehow moreish. The bitterness grows in the finish, but there’s not really a lot to this beer. Disappointing overall. Mes_and_Sim (4495), Highgate, Greater London, England Aug 4, 2008 A Mes rate: Cask at the Crown Inn. Pale gold with a very good white head and good condition. Boarderline 4 in all honesty. Slight egg in the aroma but some lovely and creamy bready malt sorts things out. The flavour is a straight down the line but tasty blend of English malt and spicy hops. Good bitter finish with a hint of lemon cream. Not amazing but an enjoyable all rounder.
