Draught at The Rake, London. Pale golden with almost no head. Good hoppy nose with apples. Flavours are well-balanced, fruity, ending dry. Rather flat. I have tasted better from Downton.

Cask conditioned at The Masons Arms, Oxford. Pale straw with no head. This was just put on so couldn’t have been fresher, but what a poor beer. Initial big eggy smell, heavy burtonisation I would think, then a chemical, perfumed body masking the flavours I would have expected, it was not popular in a pub full of Ale drinkers.

Cask conditioned @ Waterloo Arms, Soton. Pale colour. Light firm malt flavours and lots of grassy herbal hops which leads into a good bitter finish with an almost piney quality. Not especially germanic in quality (germanic script and german flag colours on pumpclip) but perhaps a twist on some of those flavours. Very good and drinkable.
