At the Fish Markets with some great calamari (I’m such a tourist). Darker than expected - solid orange - clear with no head retention though I was drinking from a plastic cup of unknown cleanliness. Pretty decent Helles-type beer. Malt is solid, enough hop at the end to make it interesting. Quite fizzy. Some mild vanilla. Has that flavour that everything tastes like when I’m hungover. Easily the best thing to come out of Blue Tongue but that doesn’t mean much.

12oz bottle @ Doyles in Watson’s Bay AU, this is decent, and goes well with Calamari and Tuna, this drinks easy and suits me just fine on a hot day, had to try this because AU is still proving to be a wasteland for hoppy beer.

It must be the smell of the fish. Lets not worry about the beer they say, just serve up a beer that will refressh. Would it? Sure, but just like any other average lager that is given the poison chalice of ’premium’. I prefer a good crisp Semillon Suavignon Blanc with my fresh seafood here in the absence of a good beer. The scene here is clearly skewed towards the wine crowd.

Bottled, at the Sydney Fish Markets, Pyrmont.
Clearly a contract brew but as they don’t currently claim to do larger this must be an original. Golden larger with large bubbles. Thin malty aroma. Fairly average beer, shame really then that I halled the damn thing all the way to Mabul Island in far east Malaysia to drink. Anyway you get that sometimes.
