Poured into a pint glass. 3.0 A: Unfortunately this is a bit ugly. Murky light brown like dirty mop water or something. A bit less than a finger of frothy off white head that falls quickly and leaves no lacing. 3.5 S: Bready, toasty, nutty, and yeasty, but all of these come in small doses. Slight grassy hoppiness. Weak, but pleasant. 4.0 T: Interesting, I had no idea this was a sour. Seriously, this is sour like a tart Berliner weiss. I’m pretty sure the brewers weren’t going for this, but it turned out pretty good. Plenty of lactic acid and sour apple funkiness. Some toastiness in there works well with a general yeastiness. It’s good, but I’m sure they weren’t going for this. I’m going to have to grade it for what it is. 4.0 M: Lighter medium body. Good spritzy carbonation. Good creaminess with a sour bite on the finish. 4.5 D: Tasty sour. Good balance of malts and sourness. Easy going down. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 10-19-2010 00:57:09

Bottle. Pours clear copper with a small, fizzy white head, low retention with light lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (cookie, caramel, toasted), light hops (earthy), and average esters (dried fruit). Flavor is heavy malt (bread, cookie, caramel, toasted), light hops (earthy), and average esters (dried fruit) with notes of butterscotch. Medium body, warmth, and carbonation, low creaminess with dry finish.

Bottle. Not really sure what’s going on with this beer, hazy weird sour nose.....no bueno.

12oz bottle pours a hazy copper amber with one ring of white head. Aroma smells like bread, heavy yeast, a little metal. Flavor is overly malty, yeasty, sweet. Finish is medium bodied. Nothing distinct about this in the least.

12 ounce bottle from the brewery. Pours a hazy red color with a moderate offwhite head. Decent head retention and lacing. Aroma of caramel and banana, with some other fruity notes. Almost like fruit punch. Taste is caramel, cherries, banana and very, very subtle earthy notes. Again, much like fruit punch. Zero bitterness. Thin bodied. Not really very good at all.

On tap @ Brewpub-hazy amber pour w/an off white head. Slight bread dough aroma. Another average to poor Shenandoah brew, bitter, flat hop flavor, no real malt or caramel flavor to it...just sad. These beers have potential, just don’t deliver due to how they are poured @ the brewpub.

12oz bottle acquired in trade with kmweaver (thanks!). Poured a medium and slightly hazy orange color with a smaller sized off white head. Aromas of grains, some caramel, and a little earthy. Tastes of grains, caramel, lighter earth, and chocolate. Thinner body.

Bottle courtesy of kmweaver. Thanks Ken! Amber pour with a tall off-white head. Nose is malt, soft caramel, some grain and cereal, and light fruit notes. Taste is more cereal and sweet malts with fruit and caramel. Body is light-medium and very carbonated. Finishes with more grains, fresh sliced fruit, cereal and sweet malt. Touches of caramel as well. Not too bad!
