50 cl bottle @ Timo A.
Rated on 20110627.
Pours golden color with small head. Aroma of butter and malts. Flavor of butter, malts, grass and mild fruits. Some alcohol present even though the low ABV, quite boring.

Sorry for the german rating, but this is a lousy rating from my "newbie" time (2007-2009), and it’s not worth of being translated. I just added it for the statistics, and to complete my backlog!

A bit maltier than what you would normally expect from an Helles. Although I do respect Dr. Stromer’s achievements (he was promoted to Rector of the Leipzig University at age of 26), his beers are nothing special.

50 cl bottle, BBE 07/2011. Rated on 27.6.2011.
Aroma has butter. Rather strong flavour for a helles. It has butter that is a bit rancid. Decent helles, but not very good and a bit unusual too.

Bügelverschlußflasche: Golden, small stable head, almost no traces of carbonation, clean sweet pale malt in the nose, accompanied by a hoppy tinge; light to moderate sweet-bitter flavour, light bodied and pretty soft; mild short malty-bitter finish. A bit boring, very clean......

0.5 l bottle. Golden color. Sweetish honeyish aroma with bread crust and hint of lemon. Sweetish honeyish and bready flavor with hint of herbal hops and hint of lemon. Quite typical helles. Has propably lost some freshness, BB two weeks ahead.

Bottle. Golden, short to average and fully diminishing head. Light to moderate, malty and lightly sweetish aroma, some bread and faint grassy hoppyness. Body is medium, malty - lightly grainy and lightly sweetish flavor, some bread and faint hoppyness. Finish is average, malty and lightly sweetish, some bread. Malty and lightly grainy lager with light hoppyness - nothing special.

(swing top bottle) Clear, pale golden colour with a blond medium-sized foamy head. Mildly malty and slightly perfumed aroma with grassy and herbal hops. Bitter-sweet flavour, light to medium bodied with a crisp, almost a bit sharp carbonation. Mild pale malt-character with a pronounced hoppy touch, especially towards the moderately bitter finish. More a Pils than a Helles. 25.II.11
