Pours turbid chestnut with tan head and refermented shrapnel at the bottom. Nose is dark fruit, velvety malt of the scotch and vienna variety to my nose, brown sugar, cherry, fruitcake. Tastes smooth, rich, very complex, with flavors of dark fruit, vienna malt, earthy notes, caramel, cherry, mint, and a complex finish. Yet another great beer from these guys. Like a poor man’s Westy 12.

12 ounce bottle pours an amber color with aromas of light fruit, some rasins, spice and some malt. Flavors are the same, rasins with some spice followed by some malt. Decent beer overall would drink again.

On tap at Sharp Edge Beer Emporium. Pours a dark amber brown with a thick light tan head. Aroma of light fruits, raisin, sweet malt. Flavor of sour malt, diaper, yogurt, sweet malt. Good Belgian, slightly sour akin to a light Flemish red, and fruity.

Bottle thanks to beerman6686, thank you!. Pour is deep, hazy, quad-like brown with a small patchy beige head. Aroma is light brown-sugar malt, faint spice, and and light fig. Flavor is deep spicy sweet malt with hints of toffee and faint cocoa. Not getting much orange in this. Faint alcohol presence. The finish is long with lasting sweet toffee malt and deep earthy spice. Really full bodied and full flavored. Flavor exceeds the aroma. This was a nice surprise, very tasty. Thanks again!

12 oz bottle luckily found on the upstairs cave shelf at The Beerhive in Pittsburgh. My new favorite, and how fortunate to make the discovery of this wonderfully awesome ale. Almost too complex, but not overdone on anything, you’ll find yourself thinking just what the hell is in there that makes it so damn good. Instead of saying "Have a Sam Adams" switch on over to the better patriot and say "Have a Simon Gurty" instead.

Dark brown, tan cover Aroma is cocoa, but then it sort of clashes with an estery belgian yeast, sweet malt and orange peel. Taste is more citrus, chocolate, like those chocolate orange candies. More esters. I like the concept but the yeast seems to overpower the beer.

I love the way local brewers are making it big. Had this at the bocktown monaca; nice place and nice beer tasting atmosphere. This is my first dry log considering there is on ly two listed so far and it did make an impression on this ratebeerians. Looks like darker iced tea. Nice mellow aroma with a little alky punching thru. It says belgian, so I’m thinking this could not be by default, no? A little unrefined. Yes, from the start it is a little strong. Does have some beldgy attitude but for the most part its less civilized than the stuff from the old world. Is orval in this ssame category? Sweet attitude on the finish. Very little co2 but its there. Not too sure what to think of this wnaah be. We should call this in a new sttyleas an americanized belgian ale. Then it would get in the top 10.

Nice beer from a local brewer. Flavors are a little weak, but this isn’t a bad beer. Aroma was very Belgian. Strong yeast and notes of dark fruit. Pour was a nice deep dark amber with a two finger off white head. Taste was very sweet. You could taste the cocoa and orange peel which play nicely on each other. The sweet malt and biting yeast are present but never really develop fully. Carbonation is good. Nice and complex beer, but could be a little tastier

This poured a murky brown color with a beige head. Aroma was lots of belgian yeasty spiceness, and some light dark fruits and toasted malts. Flavor was again lots of yeast, mild sweetness, and some estery fruity notes. Another solid belgian style fromt hese guys, but nothing noteworthy. Hopefully they will branch out in style as there definitely is some potential here.

From a very dark growler direct from the brewery. A dark purple with little in the way of head retention. There is very little nose to this. The taste is to muddled for my taste buds to pick out individual tastes. (this is not a negative) A tad thin and very carbonated. A fair amount of malt in a very dry finish. A very enjoyable drink.
