33cl bb08/2017, BH leftover. - Bref: joins the ranks of many a Belgian blond ester bomb: apricot jenever nose, honey golen malts dried out by effervescence, accompanying local hops added for balanced oblivion. If done lukewarm, this is the style that inspires tedium and desperation. For shining examples up with modern palates: Dolle Arabier, Chimay Blanche, Karmeliet, De Ranke Guldenberg.

bottle @ Party Source / Bellevue KY ---Aroma of malt. Cloudy dark amber, white head cover, bands of lace. Taste is full-bodied sweet fizzy malt that grows into a big carbonation burst on the swallow. Light earthiness follows along with a tiny bit of spice, and then light bittering. A reasonable, but, not memorable brew.

APPEARANCE – dark copper color – darker than I’d expect for a tripel. A lot of sediment that is perturbed by the carbonation.
NOSE – lot of malt. Not a lot more than that.
FLAVOR – malty flavor, some effervesce, I wouldn’t have guessed it was a Belgian or a tripel if the bottle didn’t say so.

Aroma of dried fruits leather, alcohol, candy; dirty, dark orange color, tons of suspended sediment; flavor is vanilla, milky caramel, leather, dried apricots, dates, and caramel, hint of butterscotch, alcohol isn’t completely overt, just a bit of hops and bitterness in the finish; medium full body, creamy mouthfeel; decent, wasn’t what I was expecting from a Triple, seems older and aged already...

The first beer from a relatively new contract brewer, with a label which, apart from a cryptic drawing and the name of the beer, bears almost no information whatsoever - not very exemplary towards craft beer lovers, actually. Very thickly lacing, retaining, pale yellowish white, dense and moussy head over an orangey amber coloured beer, too amber for a true tripel in fact, with a suspension of yeast bits floating around. Somewhat unusual but not unpleasant aroma of cookie dough, candied orange, walnut liqueur, passion fruit, persimmon, cranberries, lots of biscuit and butterscotch, honey, sweet white wine, sundried tomatoes, gingerbread, tobacco, raw red cabbage, old apple cake, whisky, cloves, minerals. Sweetish onset, lots of dried fruits, redcurrant, overripe apricot, hint of banana, bubblegum even, medium carbonation, notably minerally, followed by a creamy, full, soft and rounded maltiness, biscuity, bready, caramelly, toasted, adorned with spicy yeasty accents and evolving into a moderately, leafy and lightly herbal hop bitterishness, but the caramelly maltiness remains the longest, as well as a restrained yeastiness; there is some whisky-like alcohol warmth leaving a slightly tingling sensation on the root of the tongue, but nothing wry or disturbing. Very malt forward, with a butterscotch and cookie aroma I usually encounter in darker coloured beers. This is clearly made with care and attention for malt flavour and in that sense the idea of this labelling a tripel is not that far-fetched, but I’d rather classify this as a Belgian strong ale. In any case: more enjoyable than expected, a welcome addition to the Belgian beer landscape, as far as I’m concerned. I am pleasantly surprised by the lack of off-flavours or obvious flaws in the nose (no iron, no H2S, no DMS or anything else which could have ruined it), especially considering this is quite new, so I would surely drink this again.

Large, white head, strong. Color dark gold. Very pleasant tasting, when I drank draeckenier, I felt that it is thick and full. Flavor: caramel, malt and very nice bitterness. Alcohol gently warming. Very delicious beer.

Il gusto ricorda un po’ la Rodenbach, mi piacerebbe scoprire cosa gli da questo aroma.
