(Draught) Creamy thin tan head witha a thin reddish-brown body. Roasted cocoa nose is rather pleasant - thought the flavour is very thin with a too bitter finish. This reminds me of the Sleeman Porter in all its bitterness and tinniness which is Sleeman’s best offering to date. Though this is not my favourite...

Metalchopz (1428) - Quebec, CANADA - AUG 31, 2011
Originally rated July 2006. This light porter pours a dark brown colour looking like rootbeer. The head is tanned and some spider lacing is left. Aromas of roasted malt, molasse and very light chocolat. Medium-light bodied mouthfeel. The taste has roasted malt too, with some coffee, mild candy and is not too overpowering. Not much chocolat is found, but mild bitterness is in the middle and it has almost a dry aftertaste. A nice light porter.

Lubiere (6988) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - MAR 12, 2006
Dark reddish porter with a thin off white head. Sweet caramel chocolate aroma with herbal notes. In mouth, too thin. Faint chocolate malt without much else. Thin bodied. On tap at BP on March 11, 2006.

Pours a black color with ruby highlights with a medium light brown head. Mild aroma of coffee and chocolate. Mild flavor of coffee and chocolate with a bitter finish. The palate is light and dry. Probably this brewpub’s beer that is approaching the decent level, it’s not there yet though.

The Lure:
Personable coffee beans and roasted malts make a fun aroma. Upon closer inspection, some worrying vegetal notes are found.

The Festivities:
Their dusty yeast really doesn’t agree with the roasted malts and their bitter ending. Mouthfeel is very thin and ashy. Charred veggies appear, making this severely unappealing in the long run. They’re starting up here, but there’s a lot of work to be done if I may say so.

Transcendence:
A dead fireplace.
