2.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
On top at the brewery. Described as an imperial pale with an IBU of 135. Amber in color with a fine citric aroma. Well filtered. Medium bodied with lots of caramel in the flavor to back up the hop attack. For a very hoppy beer the caramel is strong. The hops are very astringent and leave a lasting medicinal quality on my tongue. Hard to finish.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
First and foremost, this rating is based on how this one is drinking right now, not in the past.
Another old Scratch Beer ticked off the list. Yet again, big thanks to Deuane for giving me one of these to try.
A - Pours murky burnt orange with a decent one finger tall white head, dissipating down to a thin film, leaving very light lace down the glass.
S - Smells of intense caramel, toffee and brown sugar sweetness throughout. Some hints of faded citric hops and fruit creep in at times but this one is all sweetness now. A surprising amount of alcohol is still present.
T - Starts off with a ton of sweetness - flavors are similar to the nose - slowly giving way to hints of toasted bread, some minerals and the faintest hints of hop bitterness. Finish retains quite a bit of sweetness and the booze creeps in at the end of each sip, lingering on the pallet long after the finish. Those hops are long gone in this one.
M - Medium body with lots of sweet flavors and moderate carbonation. The booze is still surprisingly strong for being almost three years old.
O - This one is obviously past its prime but it isn’t undrinkable. Glad I got to try it but if you have one of these sitting around it isn’t getting any better, drink it sooner rather than later.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: JUN 9, 2012 @ drafting room exton... aka TDR #15
A: rich amber body with a finger and one half width head... moderate retention and superb lacing
S: rich ruby red grapefruit, slight skunk like floral aroma, perfumey, some pine and resin... very nice aromatic character especially as the beer warmed
T: carries on where the nose left off.. rich, bold hop burst of grapefruit and pine tones... not overwhelmingly bitter, but a very nice hop presence rides atop a soft, subtle malt body
M: near ideal carbonation, light-medium body, crisp finish
O: a great beverage, enjoyed one outside and had no problem putting down.. refreshing

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
A: The beer pours an amber in color with a finger of off-white head.
S: Not too much intensity left to the hop character. A bit of sweet pineapple aroma and some brown sugar and caramel malts. Light citrus notes in the background, as well as a light pine.
T: The flavor leans toward the sweet side with plenty of bread and caramel. Bitter pine and light grass qualities. Not much of the tropical fruit/pineapple that I picked up on the nose. Also not quite as enjoyable as the nose.
M: Medium in body with a medium level of carbonation.
O: Hasn’t held up very well, unfortunately.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Appearance: Pours a dirty honey color, just a bit paler than caramel, with a 1 finger white crown that rapidly dissipates and leaves nice lacing.
Smell: Nice resinous pine floral hop bomb. A bit of a musky quality as well as some underlying malt that could be caramel.
Taste: Wow this is one for the IBU fiends out there, and you know who you are! Loads of bitter apollo hops with a bit of a malt backbone. Its hard to tell if its biscuit malt or a caramel malt because the hops overpower any possible sweetness the malt might have had. This is tasty stuff as I lean towards hop dominant IPA’s.
Mouthfeel: A slightly thicker than medium body that coats the mouth with every sip. Carbonation is the slightest bit lacking.
Drinkability: I could drink this brew often because it appeals to my personal preferences but not everybody could IMHO.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Thanks to SkinnyElvis for this one.
A: Pours your standard DIPA golden orange. Nice tall creamy white head. Good retention and some lace.
S: Tons and tons of pine in the aroma, subtle caramel and a touch of biscuit malt. Mostly resinous pine though.
T: Pine up front nice and sweet when paired with the malt. Cutting citrus pushes through in the center. The center has a touch of floral hops and a bit of soap.
M: On the fuller side of medium. Very thick on the tongue.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
This delicious impy IPA pours a clear and beautiful amber color with a rich and thick off-white head. The head gives way to some nice lacing left around the glass. The nose is full of hops, pine, citrus, but is balanced nicely with some sweet malts and some yeasty/bready notes. The body is fairly smooth and drinkable, and the flavors are delicious. I got a nice smack in the face with some piney, citrusy and floral hops toward the back end of the flavors and into the finish.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
bottle. pours a dark amber orange with a fluffy medium offwhite head. leaves some spotty lace on the glass. aroma of pineapple, melon, caramel, grapefruit, and a little booze. flavor is a big smack of pine up front, with some grapefruit, tangerines, and some bready, nutty, caramel malt backing. nice body. This was pretty damn good. Like a doughy caramel with a some spruce and pineapple. I know that doesn’t sound very good, but it worked. this was a great beer. awesome balance as well.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle courtesy of machfive55. Thanks Rich. Hazy amber pour with a thin ring of foam. Apparently apollo hops smell a lot like cascades, only more intense. Lots of pungent grapefruit aroma, a little caramel, and a hint of grass. Bitterness is fairly intense and doesn’t leave a lot of room for subtlety. Grapefruit and caramel stand out behind the bitterness. Lasting resinous finish. Not bad but could use a little refinement.
