Bottle from Beers of Europe. Sickly sweet spicy roasted malt aroma. Very dark brown, almost black colour with small tan head. Complex flavour of barbecue roasted nuts, slightly sweet, smooth texture. Not bad but not really my type of beer.

bottle - Pours dark brown with a small tan head. It smells of dark roast malt and tastes of that roast malt along with some chocolate. It’s a sweet brew and while it’s alright, is underwhelming particularly given that I’m a big fan of stouts.

9.6oz bottle in a snifter. Pours black with a lasting tan head. Faint aroma of bread. Sweet, malty flavor. Medium body, thin texture. A light finish. This beer is not bad at all, and I would recommend tasting it to see what Jamaica has to offer.

Pours opaque black with medium tan head. No distinguishable aromas, mainly just bready with a touch of toffee. Medium to light mouthfeel; rum, chocolate and sweet malt, finish is a touch dry and tannic. Pretty average FES.

Pours a deep brown almost black with a massive, tan, fizzy head. Good retention and awesome lace. Aroma is doppelbock sweet malt, raisins, toffee. Taste is cloying sweetness, raisins, old chocolate. But not half bad.

Bottle, 284ml. A black colour with a light brown head. A slightly malty aroma with a hint of chocolate and spice. Flavour is much the same: malt with some caramel sweetness and hints of vanilla, cocoa and clove. Alcohol somewhat evident, but remains dangerously easy to drink. Low to moderate carbonation. Quite tasty, certainly worth buying again.

9.6oz bottle. Appears to be marked July 24, 2009. Bottled on or best by? I don’t know. Pours very dark brown, medium bodied, with a two finger light brown head that holds a small cap but doesn’t leave much lacing. Aroma is sweet and sugary roasted malts, chocolate, fruits such as cherries and figs, smoke, alcohol, and a touch lactic. Flavor is dark roasted malts, coffee, chocolate, dark fruits, a touch of hop bitterness on the finish, but there is some lingering sweetness, too. Alcohol is well-hidden on the tongue. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, low in carbonation, goes down real smooth and easy for a stout. I think this is a good example of the style, and better than the scores indicate. Not the absolute top in the category, but at least equal, if not a bit better than Lion Stout.

283ml bottle. Thick brown head holds onto a deep bronze body. Rich sweet aroma; chocolate, mollasses, caramel with hint of prune and plum. Thick texture, moderate carbonation, good weight. Plenty of dark chocolate maltiness on the body, more rich toffee and plummy undertones. Finishes quite sweet, not particularly bitter or roasted. Tasty, but missing the roastiness of a serious strong stout, more like a strong sweet stout or dopplebock.
