Bottle. Dark brown pour with a large head. Aroma is sweet lactic, along with chocolate and dark malts. Maybe my palate is playing games with me, but I’d say this is the sweetest stout I’ve ever tasted. A bit of dark fruit, with a hint of a bitter finish. But in general, much too sweet.

Pours black with modest head. Aromas of chocolate and sweet malt. Flavour was much the same, with sweet malt, brown sugar and some dark fruit. Medium to full body with slightly bitter finish. Just a bit on the sweet side for my tastes and a bit too artificial.

Bottled(284ml). -Deep black coloured, small brown head that lasts only few seconds, chocolate licorice nose. Very sweet malty and slight fruity aroma with notes of chocolate, coffee and alcohol. Strong metallic finish, and a way too sweet brew.

UPDATED: JAN 24, 2008 Bottle. Sweet, molasses, cream and chocolate. Pours a small brown head and a dark brown beer. Some carbonation, sweet taste gives way to a nuttiness, and hopsbut not terribly complex. A drink I literally grew up on with many fond memories however it no longer has the cache with me that it once had.

Appearance: Pours a black body with brown edges and a foamy, khaki-colored head. Smell: Aroma of odd, seemingly artificial chocolate and licorice with a hint of a well-used CoinStar machine. Taste: A crude, unrefined taste of sweet chocolate, licorice, and dark corn syrup. Sugar is thrown haphazardly all over the palate. Hints of loose change. Finishes with a sour, twangy fruitiness. All in all, it’s like an ice cream topping purchased at the dollar store. Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation. Drinkability: I can’t conceive of myself ever giving this beer another go.

Very dark cola color with a pitch black center. Small, foamy, tan head that quickly settles to a thin rim. The aroma shows overly ripe bananas, marshmallows, cane sugar, and hints of chocolate. Faint dry grains appear on a deep inhale. As sweet as the aroma is, the flavor just takes it to another level. This beer will give you cavities! Sugar, sugar, and more sugar. Marshmallow again shows a strong presence, as do banana puree and hints of licorice. Sweet, sticky, medium body that coats your gums like a piece of candy would. This beer is intensely sweet and not at all what I’m looking for in a stout. Needs more hop character and much less sugar to make it enjoyable.
