1.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20 EdKing (761) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - FEB 27, 2011
Appearance is dark brown, nearly black. Aroma is pungent. Sweet bready malty wafts on the nose and syrupy banana. Taste is sickly sweet, the sugar overpowering everything. Texture in the mouth is cloying and the carbonation is too much. Fizzy stout is never a good thing. Balance is all over the place with the hops completely blown away by the sweetness. Big thumbs down here.
2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20 suprchunk (802) - Heinsberg, GERMANY - FEB 26, 2011
Pours a black oily hue with a barely there white head. No lacing, and the head is hard to get unless you are pouring from well above the glass. Then it disappears anyway so it’s a moot point in trying to get it to appear.
Roasty. There’s a burnt sugar/caramel-ness to it that is hard to figure out which one it really is. This smell overpowers everything else, so it’s hard to figure out if there is anything else in there.
Sweet and dry. Cloyingly sweet. Roastiness doesn’t really stick out. It’s in the aftertaste. Along with something else that doesn’t sit well. Oh well, good try.
Sticky sweetness in the corners of the mouth. A bitterness left in the mouth as well. And I don’t think it is from the absence of hops.
Not very drinkable, or even good. If I was in a pinch, and in Jamaica, I would probably let someone buy me one. But I would chug it so I wouldn’t have to suffer for long.
2.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 Savvy1982 (1319) - Lethbridge, Alberta, CANADA - FEB 25, 2011
UPDATED: FEB 28, 2011 Bottle. Pours clear black, semi-persistent pale tan head, passable to good lacing. Nose is very sweet, some roast and creosote, some licorice and cocoa nibs. Flavours of creosote, acid, vinegar, with notes of pencil shavings, black licorice, and some light fudge. Despite the vinegar and acid, it still manages to be very sweet, not a stout I would recommend to anyone.

Pours a dark brown with one finger of creamy light tan head. Nose is interesting, sweet caramel and bread with some banana. Flavor is a bit papery, tastes like a Guinness without the nitrogen. Sweet, full bodied with a mild hop bitterness.

bottle, shared by emacgee. thanks. Nose of soy sauce, metal, more salty, and some sugar. Flavor is sweet and salty, some light molasses, leather, hops. Not a huge fan.
1.3 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 4/20 czar (1053) - Québec, Quebec, CANADA - FEB 13, 2011
pours dark brown-black with little beige head. aroma is pale ale with sugar. taste is about the same: a load of sugar sweetness, hint of chocolate, and pale malts. silky, hides the alcohol - almost impossible to not hide it, beer is sooo sweet. not just boring, it is an awful brew. go for the royal extra stout instead - still don’t understand why this last one isso underrated.
2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 BeerCast_Rich (1056) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - FEB 9, 2011
[284ml bottle] Dark brownish black with a decent tan head, quite heavily carbonated. Sweet malty aromas, brown sugar and dark syrup. Caramel sweetness, some dark tannin flavours leading to a sweet finish. Reminds me a bit of Dandelion & Burdock mixed with Cream Soda. Not bad but might get too much after a while. Hides the alcohol well with all the sweetness [09022011]
2.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 tronraner (2429) - Walland, Tennessee, USA - FEB 3, 2011
Bottle. Pours a very dark brown with small beige head. The aroma is sweet with molasses, just a hint of raisin and vanilla. The flavor is on the sugary side with a little bit of molasses richness. There’s an odd nuttiness to it that seems a little chemical. Maybe even papery. The finish has some unpleasant hops; astringent, a little bit harsh, a little bit funky. Not a very good brew.
