not bad, but I don’t like its balance between sweetness and alcohol strength
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Tmoney99 (7301) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - NOV 24, 2009
Bottle at Cock & Bull Pub. Poured black color with an average frothy brown head that mostly diminished with good lacing. Moderate roasted malt aroma. Medium body with a smooth dry texture and flat carbonation. Medium toasted sweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. Good start, soft finish.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 pivnizub (7239) - Bochum, Porúří, GERMANY - MAR 31, 2006
Bottle: Almost black, small, but firm brownish head; sweet (dark) malt in the nose, molasses and chocolate, imaginary traces of old rum (!); sweet chocolatey flavour; sweetish, fruity (vinous) finish with a bit longer lasting chocolatey bitterness, warming. Not bad, but a bit too much on the sweet side.......
2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 MesandSim (7109) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - AUG 13, 2008
A Mes rate: bottle from the dodgy shop on the other side of Archway Road.Jet black with a thin tan head that settles to pretty much nothing. Aroma is not too bad. Restrained coffee and chocolate, some toffee and all round rather sweet. Flavour has almost none of what is in the aroma. Sweetness is about it. The coffee and chocolate are replaced with molasses and dried fruit. A strong tangy, almost brown sauce note creeps in without being welcomed too. More strong sweetness in the finish with a big fruity hit settling down to a lingering note of cardboard. The alcohol is barely noticeable throughout so it gets plus points for that. Far from great but when you are in Notting Hill and this is the best that is available you drink it... trust me.

Another sweetish and alcoholic Caribbean stout. Not really my favoured style and one is enough. But overall I’d rather have one of these than ten bland Caribbean lagers. Bottled, Fisherman’ bar, Speightstown, Barbados.
2.5 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 hopdog (7044) - Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 11, 2007
284ml bottle acquired in trade with DragonStout (how appropriate!). Poured a dark, dark brown color wtih a huge (5 finger) sized head. Aromas of vinyl (like the plastic covered sofas), roast, and caramel. I can’t get past the plastic. Tastes of chocolate, dark fruits (raisins and plums), caramel, brown sugar, and a trace of coffee. Sweet.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Lubiere (6988) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - DEC 19, 2003
Nice vinous alcool nose. Deep deep black and viscous.
Chocolates and raisins assault the mouth, with warm alcool.
Without the colour reference, some people claimed this tasted like
a belgian brown....believe it.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 JoeMcPhee (6966) - Toronto, ON, Ontario, CANADA - AUG 11, 2004
Very dark black colour, slight ruby tint with a thick tan head that faded fairly quickly. Nice chocolate aroma, coffee hints and a bit of cherry fruitiness. Very malty taste, molasses, treacle, and chocolate. Coffee bitterness is quite prominant in the finish. Alcohol sneaks into the finish as well but it adds a nice warming touch. As the beer warms, you get more caramel and vanilla on the nose as well as on the front of the palate. Very tasty and full-bodied.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 CaptainCougar (6835) - Columbia, Maryland, USA - MAY 3, 2006
Pours a barely transparent dark brown with a thin tan head. Aroma of sweet sugary malts, dark fruits and authentic foreign stout character. Starts sweet sugary and malty with a smooth viscous lightly roasted finish. A sweet, true to style beer.

UPDATED: APR 27, 2012 Bottled. A black coloured beer with very little head. The aroma is very sweet with some licquorice and sweet chocloate thrown in. The taste is also mostly sweet and has a medicinal edge. Not a typical roasty stout, but very tasty nonetheless.Score 3.9 Subsequent ratings scored 3.5 and 3.9. Average becomes 3.8
